Wow, the recent AWS Lambda changes in terms of how fast and how independent it scales are really powerful. I already wrote about this news when they released it, but I've finally gotten to see it "in action". ⚡ As long as you bump the maximum concurrency of your AWS account to higher values, you can really survive a sudden influx of 100000s of users hitting your API (not CDN, API!) without really noticing it at all. Load testing a setup of ALB + several Lambdas + DynamoDB is so fun. The previous scaling behaviour was quite limited for a sudden large scale traffic. Now, the sky (or the maximum concurrent invocations 😅) is the limit! Designing serverless systems became so much easier. An example - assuming your particular Lambda-powered endpoint responds in 500ms on average, then this behaviour lets you continuously survive additional 2000 requests per 10 seconds. That's plenty for most of use cases. And you can even add provisioned concurrency to the mix! #serverless #aws #lambda
