This Code sets the minimum guidelines that farmers are expected to follow, impacting the welfare of over 1 million sheep each year. Your insights are vital to this process. Today in Canberra, there's a National Farmer Rally underway aimed to promote some strong discussions around a ''fairer go'' for farmers. Something we've spent a decade working on is farmer (and rural) welfare, and, what we know to be true is that a vast array of city-centric decisions are having irrevocable impacts on the rural sector - from farmers to those in various parts of the supply chain - all the way to your plate. It's so easy to not think about those who are out of sight, isn't it? And rural and remote Australians are most definitely out of sight and out of mind, too often, when it comes to our national priorities. So while we are not here to tackle politics, as such, the truth is SITC is supporting a number of rural humans who struggle with the knock-on affects of bad policies or the fact that our leaders continue to miss the mark when it comes to equality in the rural space from basic health care to ag decisions.
