The more you fly the harder it becomes to keep all your flights on scedule. Looking at total flights Emirates and Qatar should be aiming for the top 5 if not top 3. But they fall short. On the other side of the spectrum Delta, United and American do far more flights than the other 7 combined but still make the top 10 with Delta making the top 5! It will be interesting to dig a bit deeper into the technology levels of the different airlines and how they employ that to help them achieve these results.

Many are not aware that Air France's first few Aerospatiale-BAC Concorde aircraft were delivered in the airline's pre-1976 livery. Variations of this earlier color scheme had been used for decades by the French flag carrier. It was replaced by what could legitimately be called the very first "Euro-white" look. This is the design the company still uses, in slightly modified form, today. F-BTSC is seen here in the old livery, having been photographed in early 1976 at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. Sadly is was -BTSC which became the first, and only, Concorde to be involved in a fatal crash (in the year 2000 on departure from this very airport). After a long grounding for safety modifications the Anglo-French supersonic transports were returned to service with Air France and British Airways in 2001. The type was then permanently grounded in 2003 due largely to continuing very low load factors during the worldwide air traffic downturn in the wake of the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington D.C. 20 years ago, #Concorde, an aeronautical masterpiece, took its final flight, gracefully gliding into retirement. For those privileged enough to have experienced its supersonic prowess, the memory of its exhilarating acceleration and breathtaking speed will forever remain etched in their minds. For those who missed out, well, you can only imagine what it was like to soar through the skies at twice the speed of sound, a sensation akin to riding in a Formula One race car …while sipping champagne. The Concorde's story is one of both triumph and tragedy. An original market sizing prediction of 350 aircraft resulted in only 100 ever being optioned and most of those options died during the 1973 oil crisis. Of 20 aircraft produced British Airways and Air France received 7 each and 6 were built for testing. Braniff International, Iran Air AT, and Singapore Airlines also flew Concordes at different times. In the end, the refusal of #Airbus to manufacture spares for the aircraft led to its death at a tricky point for commercial aviation after the 9/11 terror attacks. "The only thing that tells you that you're moving is that occasionally when you're flying over the subsonic aeroplanes you can see all these 747s 20,000 feet below you almost appearing to go backward, I mean you are going 800 miles an hour or thereabouts faster than they are. The aeroplane was an absolute delight to fly, it handled beautifully. And remember we are talking about an aeroplane that was being designed in the late 1950s – mid-1960s.
