"For many, studying the theoretical basis for their discipline while practicing its application in the professional environment will suit their learning style and career ambitions. If you are someone who wants to get stuck into something bigger and start contributing to society straight out of school then I definitely recommend degree apprenticeships." https://lnkd.in/erBXE7Hm It's wonderful to be published in the inaugural Kent Economics Degree Apprentice Research Journal. Do check it out for some awesome work including on the effect of mental ill health on wages and modelling the football transfer market - I believe there is also something on agri-food and non-tariff measures... https://lnkd.in/eNAH2Yf3 If you are a Year 13 student (with or without a degree in Economics) that fancies getting to grips with the biggest challenges facing society, do apply for the Government Economic Service Degree Apprenticeship Programme. Be quick, applications must be submitted before Monday (12/Feb). https://lnkd.in/eXqP6u5c #NAW2024
Its National Apprentice Week! We're celebrating the first full cohort who graduated in November by launching the Kent Economics Degree Apprentice Research Journal, which features 11 of the best dissertations. We'll be showcasing a few of them here. First up is Teale Cunningham. We asked him about his experience working on his dissertation and about the programme as a whole. 'I really enjoyed working on something that could expand the evidence base and tools of my work area in a way resource doesn’t allow in my day-to-day work life.' Hendrix College is a private liberal arts college located in Conway, Arkansas, about 30 minutes from Little Rock. With approximately 60 percent of the 1,100 students coming from Arkansas and most of the remaining students coming from other Southern states, Hendrix College is often compared with other Southern liberal arts colleges like Millsaps and Rhodes. Among these, Hendrix is particularly noted for its progressive stance, with a significant focus on fostering global consciousness. Hendrix is recognized for its engaging teaching methods and curriculum emphasizing hands-on learning. The college's unique Odyssey program is particularly noteworthy. It requires students to complete three experiences—coursework, internships, or independent projects—from six categories: Artistic Creativity, Global Awareness, Professional and Leadership Development, Service to the World, Undergraduate Research, and Special Projects. The program ensures that students graduate with a portfolio of real-world experiences and skills. Hendrix is known for its rigorous science and social science programs. Popular majors include psychology, health science, economics and business, biochemistry and molecular biology, and English. Nearly two-thirds of students engage in research, especially in the natural sciences. About one-third of the students study abroad at Hendrix-sponsored programs in Austria, England, Costa Rica, Spain, France, Germany, and Cyprus or through over 150 partner programs. Hendrix strives to create an inclusive environment that respects and celebrates diversity. Black students comprise eight percent of the student body, Hispanics/Latinos nine percent, Asian Americans four percent, and multiracial students five percent. The college offers a range of programs and resources to support underrepresented students. Students are required to live on campus for all four years. Hendrix offers merit and need-based aid. By applying wisely, building confidence, and getting it right, I help students on their journey to college admission success. UN Global Compact Network UK & PRME UK and Ireland Chapter Intern | Politics and IR Graduate @ UCL | Social Researcher
🎓 Exciting News: Graduated with Honours from UCL! 🌟 I could not thing of a better way to start my LinkedIn posts! This month I graduated with First Class Honours in Politics and International Relations from UCL. But the journey wasn't a walk in the park. My adventure started in September 2020 when I moved from Madrid to London, just as the pandemic was taking hold. It wasn't easy. Months of isolation, adapting to a new country, and making new friends were overwhelming. My challenges continued when I fell seriously ill with COVID, spreading it to the friends I had just met. Even after recovering, I battled long COVID for over a year, struggling with fatigue, headaches, and concentration issues. Other than acquiring skills and expertise in a vast array of subjects in the realm of politics, long covid singlehandedly marked my university experience by teaching me invaluable life lessons: 1️⃣ Setting Boundaries: Saying no to internships, events, and society roles was a stark departure from my previous roles as Head of Student Council, prefect, and high achiever, but essential for my health and growth. 2️⃣ Self-Care: I realised that neglecting self-care leads to burnout, making it impossible to help others effectively. Balancing your own health is essential to being there for others in the long run. 3️⃣ Listening: Being ill forced me to delegate and ask for help. Moreover, it taught me the importance of listening, both to myself and others. Especially in a place like UCL, with people from such diverse backgrounds, taking the back seat due to my health allowed me to appreciate and understand this diversity, enabling me to become a highly open-minded and empathetic individual. I owe a debt of gratitude to UCL's incredible staff, my friends, and family. Their belief in me and unwavering support helped me earn First Class Honours and become the first in my family to graduate abroad. I am grateful, honoured, and excited for the future! 🚀 #Graduation #UCL #UCLAlumni #NewBeginnings #LifeLessons

Great story. I think sometimes we hear too much about what is not possible, what we cannot control...what we cannot do, achieve, believe. But actually, there is a huge amount we CAN control, we just need to focus on what it is we want and ignore the naysayers- focus on what you can do to make it happen. This story proves that with direction and passion you can make the seemingly uncontrollable...well, controllable. #employability #nottinghamtrentuniversity #NBS #passion #studentsuccess #undergraduate #placementsupport #studentlife
Vision, research, clear ideas and a goal… Just some of the things NBS Business Management and Marketing Student Crispin Cazalet demonstrated when considering what he would like to achieve during his Sandwich Placement. Crispin contacted the Placement & Business Advisor Team because he wanted to spend his year in industry with an organisation which provided all the experiences and learning you would expect to gain from a placement, but there wasn’t the exact opportunity he wanted visibly out there. Crispin identified The Performance Company; a specialist distributor of premium and exclusive performance parts for the sports automotive industry, as the employer ticking all his placement boxes. We talked it through, Crispin made his pitch to the company and was invited for a site visit. Off the back of this an incredible placement opportunity was created. Fantastic stuff The Performance Company! and thank you James Pearman & Matt Wootton AATQB for taking the leap in creating this placement, supporting Crispin, and providing so much valuable work experience. Crispin is midway through his role as Marketing & Sales Intern and has been producing lots of amazing, eye-catching content and he and his team have also just returned from Netherlands, working on the official opening of their new European mainland showroom, so it’s exciting times ahead! Well done Crispin! a great example of getting out there, creating your own opportunities and securing a Sandwich Placement* in an industry you’re so passionate about! Here’s a very happy Crispin demonstrating a bit of what he gets to work with every day. It sure beats the NET tram to the Boots Library! *Ferrari Generally NOT included NTU Employability NTU Business and Employers #students #graduates #employability
