NEXT GEN FORUM // At FKG, we firmly believe that nurturing our people’s growth is pivotal to our success. That’s why our construction team recently brought together cadets, apprentices, and trainees from across the country to meet in our Windsor office for a forum.   This year’s forum focused on essential skills like Communicating for Results, Building Resilience and Managing Stress, Business Planning, and even Budgeting and Financial Management. Participants delved into various competencies, such as active listening, trust-building, effective leadership through conversations, stress identification, loan management, budgeting, and much more!   Not only did the group hear from FKG’s Managing Director, Group Manager of Construction, Leadership and Training Manager, Construction Finance Manager, and Operations Managers, they also engaged in a panel discussion, firing away questions to some of FKG’s best.   To cap off this learning experience, participants had the chance to put their #leadership and #teamwork skills to the test in a MasterChef-style cook-off. In teams, they prepared a dish that would later be shared during dinner. How impactful can an MBA really be? SMF alumnus Sagnik Mukherjee shares how going to business school was a vital stepping stone for his career. London-based Sagnik, 34, is now Senior Strategy Manager in the internal strategy function at energy giant bp, where he spent almost four years of his fledgling career before becoming a Sainsbury Management Fellow. Sagnik shared with us how the SMF scholarship supported his career development: “That’s why I’m able to come into this new role. It is possible I could have arrived where I am today without the MBA, but it would have taken me a lot longer with a much more challenging learning curve. "At the point in my career, gaining the SMF scholarship de-risked the investment. And having access to the network of both incoming and existing alumni is such a boost. These things help because nobody has the answer to everything. The ability to ask questions to a network like I have is really useful." We have recently supported Exeter Business School in the delivery of a module in leading and managing people , which is part of The Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA). This pragmatic programme offers a quality degree and provides apprentices with higher level leadership and management skills, core competencies and desired behaviours to become a more effective manager. Number of Students: 70 from all sectors of business – public and private. Our module consisted of:- Turning simple neuroscience into action Visble behaviours above the waterline and hidden depths beneath. Using some exercises from emotional intelligence to focus on how our armygdala can affect our decision making; how self aware are they when the pressure is on?; how to prepare their personal brand for recruitment, promotion, presentations. Introduction to the GC index.

As a Texas Christian University - M.J. Neeley School of Business undergrad and MBA alum I love every opportunity to connect and work with the students. Neeley & Associates Consulting is a one of a kind experiential learning program that I am grateful to have been an advisor for more than 8 years. A highlight from my week was teaming with Chris Ammann and Van Nguyen, CFA to advise Kelly Gatica Deeshan Alwis, CFA Nitya Sundaram Auddie Patterson Jack Lombardo on scoping and drafting their project charter as well as preparing for their client meetings. A few topics we focused on: 1) stay focused on the business issue you have been asked to analyze and provide recommendations, 2) as a team storyboard your end deliverable early to ensure you defined a work plan that can be achieved within the project timeline, 3) define clear roles & responsibilities across your team so you can work efficiently, 4) don’t forget to make time to get to know each other, your client, and have fun 😀 Any other advice you would share with the team as they get started on their project?
