Do you know that feeling of absolutely loving what you do and knowing that what you are working on makes a real difference in the world for people and the planet?
That describes the effort I have been putting in with www.cdr.fyi, a worldwide group of volunteers pursuing a mission of bringing more transparency and trust to durable carbon dioxide removal (CDR).
What's CDR? It's taking harmful carbon out of the atmosphere and sequestering it (so that it does not go back) to mitigate the increase in temperatures and extreme weather events that we are all experiencing increasingly frequently.
It's not a silver bullet. We still want to reduce emissions in any way we can. But CDR is an essential contributor to helping us get to net zero and, hopefully, in the future, reducing the total carbon in the atmosphere.
We have dramatically overdrawn our accounts with nature. Emissions reduction is about reducing the annual deficit. Carbon removal is about reducing the debt accumulated over the years.
Together with sustainability expert Robert Höglund, product guru Kevin Niparko and the assistance of a team of dedicated and talented volunteers (see comments) and industry advisors worldwide, today we launched the first-ever forward-looking durable CDR market outlook survey!
If you are a supplier or current or prospective purchaser of durable CDR, please take the time to complete the survey at www.cdr.fyi/survey.
If you are a CDR marketplace or registry, or in media, academia, or climate policy, please share the link with durable CDR suppliers and purchasers.
And if you see ways that we can support your company or organization's journey in durable CDR, or you want to personally contribute your time and talent to cdr.fyi's mission, please contact me. :)
