Workforce development is never far from my thoughts. This is one more force in the right direction.

Congress passed the ADVANCE Act 88-2. This bill includes several reasonable and appropriate provisions to modernize regulation and more. It is the result of a substantial effort by many stakeholders. One key provision is aligning the NRC mission with the already in place Atomic Energy Act and Energy Reorganization Act. It reminds the NRC that the mission includes considering the benefits of nuclear energy technology to society, while still maintaining public safety and protecting the environment.

Good read highlighting the necessity of recruiting young nuclear engineers due to the rapid retirement of experienced professionals. Let's also recognize the importance of trades and craft in constructing and maintaining nuclear plants. If you get a chance, talk to younger people as early as elementary and middle school about the benefits of a technical career in the nuclear industry. https://lnkd.in/gqeC--4R

Imagine you're on a committee organized to approve plans for a nuclear power plant.   At the next meeting, the committee's agenda is to discuss two items: first, the design of the plant and second, the placement of a bicycle storage shed outside the plant.   How much time should be devoted to each agenda item?
