Early bioreactor control was dependent on human operation based on workers’ knowledge and long-term practical experience. With the development of smart sensor technology, which enables in-line monitoring of various process parameters, including the health status of these probes, user errors and process delays are significantly reduced. The new smart pH and dO2 sensors, found in the new Getinge (Applikon) Livit Flex bioreactor control systems, are composed of a probe, a transmitter (grey metallic cylinder) called Livit Link and a USB Type-C cable. The Livit Link is connected on one side to the probe via a VP8 connector and on the other side to the USB Type-C cable. The USB Type-C cable is connected to the USB Type-C port of the biocontroller. The probe is equipped with internal memory, which accounts for the "smart functionality". This functionality can be used when the smart probe is combined with the Livit Link and Livit software. The functionalities of the smart probes are listed below: • Storage of calibration (offset, slope, sample correction in case of a pH sensor), uptime, and health data of the sensor • Integrated temperature sensor for probe calibration and temperature compensation The functionalities of the Livit Links are listed below: • Storage of calibration data of the electronics • Conversion of the probe signals and calibration data into values that are displayed on the screen of the biocontroller • Connection to the biocontroller via a USB Type-C cable #Getinge #Applikon #bioreactor #LivitFlex #sensor #bioprocessing To learn more about this new smart sensor technology that is included with the Livit Flex, follow this link:
