For many LGBTQIA+ people, Pride Month can take an especially difficult toll on their mental health. While it is a month of celebration, it is also a reminder that there is still work to be done. With the help of Mind, here are five tips to help you take care of your mental health during Pride Month. 🌈 Connect with supportive communities: Participating in LGBTQIA+ events, community activities, and volunteering with LGBTQIA+ organisations or peer support groups can foster a sense of belonging and purpose. 🌈 Practice self-care: Engaging in hobbies, exercising, and practising mindfulness or meditation can help reduce stress and nurture your mental well-being. 🌈 Seek professional support: If you're feeling overwhelmed or struggling with your mental health, it's important to reach out for professional help. Seeking support from a therapist or counsellor who understands LGBTQIA+ issues can make a significant difference in your well-being. Remember, you don't have to go through this alone — there are professionals ready to support you. 🌈 Stay informed: Educate yourself about the various sexualities and identities to better understand yourself, and always remember that questioning your sexuality and identity is completely normal and it's okay to take your time figuring yourself out. Be gentle, kind and patient with yourself. 🌈 Celebrate your identity: Lastly, always love and celebrate who you are. It takes a lot to just be you. #LGBTQMentalHealth #PrideMonth

Are you at the intersection of where neurodiversity, Black perinatal mental health, and parenting meet? Are you learning how to unmask your or your child’s neurodivergence and need a safe space to find answers for your journey? The word neurodiversity refers to the diversity of all people, but it is often used in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other neurological or developmental conditions such as ADHD or learning disabilities (National Institutes of Health, 2024). One intersection less discussed is the one between neurodiversity, Black birthing and parenting experiences, and our mental health. Join POEM Rise for a virtual panel discussion exploring coping strategies, support resources, and our mental health needs as Black neurodiverse moms and birthing persons and parents of Black neurodiverse children. Attendance incentive available on a first come first served basis. #autism #adhd #blackmoms #mentalhealth Register: https://loom.ly/ZKoZS-Y
Welcome! You are invited to join a meeting: Let’s Talk About It: Triggers and Treasures of Parenting in the Black Neurodivergent Space. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email about joining the meeting.
