To build on my post from yesterday, broadband service providers need to look at both sides of the coin on ROI. Increased revenue is important, but the “intangible” results we can tie back to quantifiable savings are just as important. #broadband #fiber #sethtalks

Fiber passings is not the only measure of success as broadband provider should be paying attention when trying to grow. You need to be looking at penetration rate as well. If you have 50,000 passings but only 10,000 subscribers, is building fiber the most cost effective and efficient way to grow? Likely not. You’d be better suited to update your go-to-market and work on bringing some of the 40,000 folks you’re already built to as customers. Passings are great, but revenue drives valuation. This is true now more than ever as the competitive environment heats up. #broadband #fiber #sethtalks

Incremental improvements can drive big results. If you're a broadband provider and your churn is 1.1%, a 20% improvement to .88% means you're saving 2.64% of your annual revenue. That's a long way of saying that 20% improvement in churn would save you $132,000 if your annual revenue is $5,000,000. What could a BSP do with an extra $132,000 each year? Probably quite a bit. All because their churn "that wasn't an issue" saw incremental improvement. Small changes can drive big results. #broadband #fiber #sethtalks

As confirmed by a recent report from the Fiber Broadband Association the transition from copper to fiber can lead to significant cost savings. Specifically, it was found that providers see an average savings of $54 per year per home passed in operating expenses when compared to hybrid fiber coax (HFC) networks, and a substantial $91 per year per home passed when compared to DSL. 5 year contracts for fibre broadband? We don't think thats right. With improvements in technology, speed and with alternative networks offering fibre broadband we dont agree in 5 years contracts for broadband. And those that provide it don't tend to protect the price either! That is why we have always offered a rolling 30 day agreement on our fibre broadband products, thereby giving our customers the flexibility they need as their business changes. #morethanjusttalk #fibre #broadband #flexibility
