**16 Days of Activism Against Any Type of Violence: Bridging Voices, Bridging Change** At The Language Bridge, we believe in the transformative power of communication to foster understanding, inclusion, and change. The *16 Days of Activism Against Any Type of Violence*, observed annually from November 25 to December 10, is an opportunity to unite our voices in the fight against violence in all its forms. ### Language as a Catalyst for Action Violence often thrives in silence and misunderstanding. At The Language Bridge, we see language as a tool to break these barriers. Whether it’s empowering survivors to tell their stories, translating crucial resources for marginalized communities, or fostering dialogues between diverse groups, our work is driven by the belief that communication is a cornerstone of justice and peace. ### Our Commitment During these 16 days, The Language Bridge pledges to: - **Raise Awareness:** Share stories and resources that highlight the importance of language access in combating violence. - **Amplify Voices:** Provide interpretation and translation services for events, workshops, and campaigns focused on addressing violence. - **Support Survivors:** Ensure survivors of violence have access to linguistically and culturally appropriate services. Language has the power to unite, heal, and transform. Let’s use it to create a world free from violence. **The Language Bridge: Connecting Words, Changing Lives.** #EndGBV #16DaysOfActivism #EndViolence

Reading to resist includes reading authors who are just like you. For example, some Indigenous people only read Indigenous writers to make a point about respecting diversity, culture and brilliance of ability. All of us like to be represented in literature so today is your chance to help raise the profile of Indigenous writers by resisting a Colonial status quo and reading a book by an Indigenous author to support Indigenous Literacy Day. Resistance is useful: peaceful resistance helps change the world. 👵 Megan Bayliss: social work supervisor. 🎓 PhD candidate: social and cultural resistance to the status quo.

📖 Today is Indigenous Literacy Day! It’s an annual celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ Stories, Cultures, and Languages. This year’s theme, ‘Be A Proud Voice for Country,’ resonates deeply with me as we honour the diverse languages, stories, and cultural knowledge of First Nations peoples. Indigenous Literacy Day is about more than just reading—it's a celebration of the unique voices and traditions that enrich our lives and communities. I am thankful for my Bardi ancestors for giving me language and culture from which to view the world and understand my place in it. I am passionate about keeping Indigenous languages alive and sharing my culture with others. My purpose is to create better understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal people and to leave behind a legacy of Dreamtime wisdom for generations to come. #IndigenousLiteracyDay #BeAProudVoiceForCountry #IndigenousWisdom #CelebrateCulture #PracticalReconciliation

🔸 I’ve been a little hesitant to share the YouTube video of my recent TEDx talk, but it isn't every day you get a moment to use a national platform to spread a message about something near and dear to my heart: Language Access. In this talk, I share personal anecdotes about my journey as a first-generation immigrant, our family's pursuit of the American dream, and the challenges we - as immigrants- face as we integrate into our new communities. From overcoming language barriers to fighting for justice, my talk highlights the critical need for language access in ensuring equality and fairness. I also discuss how these barriers have affected my immigrant clients, impacting their pursuit of justice and equality. My clients -- victims of serious crimes and human trafficking -- deserve language access if we are going to strive towards a fair and equitable justice system. Together, we can create bridges across language barriers. You can watch it here: https://lnkd.in/eCxp9PBa Let’s talk about language access continue our efforts towards an acccessible, fair, and equitable justice system! #LanguageAccess #TitleVI #JusticeForAll #TEDx #ImmigrantRights #EqualJustice #AmericanDream #TEDTalk
