Thought of the Day Something Extra for Baristas I was looking back on my days as a Barista and thought of something When you buy hair products from some barber shops/hair salons, the hairdresser/barber earns a little commission on the units that they sell to you But baristas don't have any incentive to sell roasted coffee or even recommend roasted coffee to customers Allowing baristas to earn some kind of commission for each bag that they sell would empower them to show off their coffee knowledge and educate customers on what makes your coffee different Combine this with any new releases and you could drive up retail sales, find another source of income for baristas, get people drinking more good coffee and generate lots of nice reviews for one of your higher margin products (retail roasted coffee bags) You could even raise retail prices to $20, make sure the extra dollars go into the baristas pocket and allow friends and regulars to reward your baristas without sacrificing anything #Burundicoffee #specialtycoffee #sustainability #economicempowerment #sociallyconscious #business

The Tipping culture has gone out of control lately. Everywhere I go, I get this screen in my face and it’s like no escape. I am a very generous tipper and always tip 20% or more when I go to a sit down restaurant. The issue is that this screen is now everywhere. When one is paying $150 for a haircut or $180 for a facial and they still expect a 20% tip, it’s becoming out of control. Tipping used to be for minimum wage workers and based on the level of service but now a salon owner is expecting a 20% tip for a $150 hair cut. You can’t even get a scoop of ice cream without this screen. It’s even at my grocery store. Where does it end? Everyone from Walmart delivery to Luxury 5 Star spas are expecting 20% + gratuity.
