Excellent insight which speaks to the aspirational heart of true community engagement.
👏 👏 👏 “Giving back to your community [contributing to society] is not just a charitable act; it is a powerful force that drives positive change and shapes the society we live in. The importance of giving back lies in its ability to foster belonging, address social challenges, facilitate personal growth, strengthen community resilience, and inspire future generations. As individuals, we have the opportunity and responsibility to contribute to the betterment of our communities.…” Matt East

Nonprofits need funding. This means they need a clear brand. How do you build a brand for an nonprofit? You design your brand to amplify your cause. “Your nonprofit’s brand isn't just a logo or a catchy tagline – it's your megaphone.” - Safaniya Stevenson This is an excellent read. ✨
It was a real honor to be asked to put pen to paper for the topic of looking at the future of nonprofits post election as my last article for 2024. Sitting down with nonprofit founders, marketers, and practitioners reveals an uneasy feeling about funding and support, as the incoming administration plans to dismantle key policies and departments that help nonprofits sustain their work in communities. Nonprofits shouldn't "brace for impact." But instead, reinforce and fortify your brands. We always hear that every dollar counts during giving pushes and capital campaigns, but those words will ring evermore true in the future ahead. ✨Community has always been nonprofits' superpower.✨ But we must go further to turn "community connection capital" into real dollars. Thank you, Kulur Group for including me in such an important conversation at such an important time.

Recently, Form Follows Studio connected with a networking collective that required a $1,000 onboarding fee for us to join. While we recognize the value of network leaders in fostering community connections, we couldn’t help but feel that this initial fee (on top of monthly dues) could be better spent directly supporting those who are making the most impact in our city. So, instead of joining, we’ve decided to invest that $1,000 into some of the most impactful organizations and individuals right here in North Texas. North Texas Giving Day can feel like a tough ask, especially when so many of us work tirelessly for far less than we deserve. At Form Follows, we’re constantly helping our clients streamline their overhead to maximize impact, so we’re taking our own advice this quarter. We’re redirecting our operational costs into donations for the following organizations: North Texas Giving Day Participants: Deep Vellum Publishing DOWNWINDERS AT RISK EDUCATION FUND Philanthropy for Kids Child Poverty Action Lab (CPAL) Non-NTXGD Participants That Deserve Our Support (We’re also donating our time to these incredible groups): 4DWN Dallas For Change Take Care Health and Wellness United People’s Coalition City Departments We’re Collaborating With, Despite Facing Budget Cuts: Integrated Public Safety Department At Form Follows, we believe that meaningful change comes from investing directly in the people and organizations creating real impact. By pouring resources into those who need it most, we’re reinforcing our commitment to strengthening our community.
