Building Better Communities—what does that mean, exactly? To me, it is seeing this: our employee-owners came together to select the organizations we wanted to support, and our clients and friends helped determine how our support would be distributed. The best part is that these three organizations now have more resources to serve their communities.
During our annual Season of Sharing celebration, we supported three community organizations—Wounded Warrior Project, Habitat for Humanity, and The Humane Society of the United States. Based on votes from our clients, partners, and friends, we gave $17,200 to the Wounded Warrior Project, $13,200 to Habitat for Humanity, and $9,600 to the Humane Society. Wishing you a happy holiday season and a joyful new year!

So.... first podcast for me! If you ever wondered what I do or what IPRF is about, this explains it in a very succinct way.
Trust and reconciliation take center stage in this conversation between our host Douglas Nelson, and Bruce W. J. Miller, Team Lead of Partnerships at the Indigenous Peoples Resilience Fund. As they explore the transformative power of Indigenous people’s resilience, Bruce W. J. Miller shares how restoring fractured relationships and addressing chronic underfunding can unlock opportunities for Indigenous communities. Together, they discuss trust-based philanthropy, cultural safety, and the practical steps needed to move from acknowledgment to action. Whether you're interested in philanthropy or building inclusive relationships, this episode offers inspiring insights and actionable ideas. Ever planned a team retreat? Then you know the challenge of making it worthwhile for the huge investment of time you're asking from colleagues (just multiply bodies X days, throw in travel, etc etc and it quickly swells into a giant commitment). Here's a formula that might just be gold: immersion in a relevant business book (pre-read) + social time/celebration of teammates + tight future-year planning + some cool swag + M&M's (lots of M&Ms actually). Cap it off by giving back in some way that leverages your company's deepest skill. The Compass Group put those ingredients together last month beautifully, ending with a full day of pro bono sessions on fundraising for the League of Historic American Theatres. Retreats can be exhausting and costly. They can also be inspiring springboards. That is, totally worth it! Just don't forget the M&Ms... #retreats #philanthropy #fundraising
The makings of an exceptional team retreat: personalized M&M Mars, new coffee mugs from YETI and an insightful group read! Will Guidara, we loved the book and appreciate the inspiration to be unreasonable for our nonprofit clients!

My personal philanthropy has a primary focus on the human rights of children and young people. Which is understandable when you hear my own story of childhood abuse and neglect. I strongly believe that every child deserves to be loved, safe and able to thrive, no matter where they were born. I also believe that this is the responsibility of the whole community - not just the biological parents. That is why I chose to apply to be a Trustee for Hope and Homes for Children and it was an absolute honour to be selected for this huge responsibility. As such, I have had the privilege to see the positive results of their incredible work, but there is so much more to be done. Sadly, at least 5.4million children are currently separated from their families, shut away inside orphanages, and staggeringly 80% are not even orphans. Orphanages are not the safe place we have been led to believe by decades of well meaning charity work and philanthropy. It is well researched and demonstrated that orphanages expose children to abuse, trafficking, and physical and psychological trauma that can last a lifetime. 📖🔬here is just one study https://lnkd.in/ejxvhEk7 No child should end up in an orphanage. There is ALWAYS a better solution. Today is the UN #InternationalDayofFamilies and this marks the launch of HHC’s campaign #BacktoFamily. It’s an incredible and well thought out campaign, using #AI to protect the rights of children. What can you do to help get children out of harms way today - i’ve made an easy list below (with a little help from the team at HHC) 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐 💛 Please share this poignant message from Kristin Scott Thomas 💛 Sign the petition www.backtofamily.org 💛 Donate https://lnkd.in/eJDgcu8R 💛 Attend one of HHC’s fab events https://lnkd.in/eH8BbyPT 💛 Challenge yourself and fundraise as a bonus! https://lnkd.in/eH8BbyPT 💛 Follow HHC and share their posts on social media - this is a social movement to protect the rights of the most vulnerable children 💛 Join their mailing list to stay up to date https://lnkd.in/efzc4dAz At the very least I encourage you to take a look at their website and learn more about the harmful effects of orphanages, what the alternative is and how #philanthropy has a catalytic role to play in this social movement https://lnkd.in/egzS5ua5 ‼️Philanthropy should be about learning, so if you have been funding an orphanage and want to learn what you can do to help those children please get in touch with me today xx ‼️ #BackToFamily #socialmovement #artificialintelligence #AIforgood https://lnkd.in/edyeVuQr
