🔒 Is your cybersecurity solutions company on the hunt for top-notch sales professionals, but finding it challenging to secure candidates who truly understand the intricacies of cybersecurity? In a world where digital threats lurk around every corner, the need for robust cybersecurity solutions has never been more pressing. However, many sales professionals lack the deep understanding needed to effectively communicate the value of cybersecurity products and services. Here's the secret sauce to finding the perfect fit for your cybersecurity sales team: 1. **Craft Your Wish List**: Define the ideal candidate with a blend of industry knowledge, technical prowess, and killer sales instincts. 2. **Hunt for Gems**: Seek out candidates with prior experience in cybersecurity, IT sales, or tech consulting—they bring a valuable foundation to the table. 3. **Tech-Savvy Stars**: While not a must-have, candidates with a knack for tech can hit the ground running when it comes to selling complex cybersecurity solutions. 4. **Sales Superheroes**: Put candidates' sales skills to the test with assessments and simulations. Look for those who can charm their way through negotiations and solve client problems with finesse. 5. **Communication Champions**: Strong communicators are the glue that holds successful sales teams together. Seek out candidates who can break down complex concepts into digestible soundbites. 6. **Culture Crusaders**: Find candidates who vibe with your company culture like peanut butter and jelly. A strong cultural fit leads to happier, more engaged employees. 7. **Training Titans**: Invest in comprehensive training programs to bridge the gap between sales and cybersecurity. I build cybersecurity training programs | Best Selling Author | Cyber Champion award | Board Member | Free Cybersecurity education videos on my YouTube channel
This is from my good friend Marcus A. Chan. I call Marcus the "King of Sales" (he didn't know this until just now). If you are trying to get that SOC Analyst job, that pen tester job, or something else in the cybersecurity world and are not having any luck, I would suggest getting good at sales then getting a job in sales at a cybersecurity product or service company. You will get benefits like: 1) Money to pay your bills and feed your family (they will thank you for this). 2) Mastering your communications and negotiation skills, which are critical to have in any cybersecurity career. 3) Learning the "lingo" of the cybersecurity world without the pressure of running IR or reporting on compliance. 4) Networking with senior people in cybersecurity roles MUCH faster than if you tried to do it all via LinkedIn. 5) You will also get a "cybersecurity" company listed on your resume. Having Splunk (or similar) on your resume can usually help you more than listing Ken's Ice Cream Shop. 6) Plus sales skills are transferable to any industry, so if you get tired of us cyber folks you can use your skills to sell drinks on the beach. P.S. - Marcus also has a good book on Amazon about tech sales. Take the road less traveled and you can get to the career you want faster.

Director at Magnus & Wolf | Building High-Performing Teams in SAP, ServiceNow, AWS, GCP, Azure, AI, and Cyber Security
Sales Skills Vs Product Knowledge ⚔ I recently spoke with a candidate who'd spent 10 years in Cyber Security sales and wanted to transition into a role I'm hiring for with a different technology. Despite his strong track record, extensive network and years of experience the client declined to interview him because he lacked experience with their specific technology. This made me think... What's more important, product knowledge or raw selling skills? 🤔 In my opinion, while product knowledge is undeniably important, raw selling skills are invaluable. You can teach someone the details of a product, but you can’t always teach the ability to sell. If I had to choose, I’d always lean towards hiring a top-tier salesperson over someone who simply knows the product inside and out. What do you think? Is it better to prioritise product knowledge or raw selling ability? 🤑 Jack Lennie Magnus & Wolf #SalesSkills #ProductKnowledge #SalesJobs #SalesStrategy #TechSales

One of the most common questions I’m asked, “How do I land my first role in pre-sales?”. Glad you asked… Here are the five steps I would take: - Assess your current skills (technical + soft skills) - Niche down (when getting started) - Define your initial entry point - Personalize your outreach - Keep a sales mindset (you are selling yourself after all) Looking for even more guidance? I wrote a whole guide on this topic, grab it here: https://lnkd.in/g69SVX4M #sales #presales #cybersecurity #careers #hiring
