Students choose their own intriguing questions, apply scientific methods, and present to teachers and industry experts. It's all about curiosity and hands-on learning. 🌟 ZEISS has been supporting Stiftung Jugend forscht e. V. since 1998 to promote young STEM talents. Since 2011, the ZEISS Promotion Fund has been supporting projects and initiatives in the areas of society and social affairs, art and culture, education and amateur sports. (PFF) during its recent round of equity grant awards. This funding will be instrumental in financially supporting local underserved and underrepresented students to attend the 6th Annual STEAM Leadership Conference, which will take place August 4-10, 2024, at Griffiss Park in Rome, NY. The equity grant round is a critical component of the Community Foundation’s long-term strategy to address the fundamental causes of systemic racism and socioeconomic inequity impacting historically marginalized populations within Herkimer and Oneida counties. This initiative underscores the Foundation’s commitment to fostering equitable opportunities for all community members, particularly those who have been historically underserved. The Florida Photonics Cluster is proud to have Orange County Government continuing in 2024 as a Diamond Patron Sponsor (the top level)! For 2024, Orange County Government has awarded a $10,500 grant to the Cluster. This grant is specific towards STEM outreach and is being used for four purposes this year: - FPC's inclusion in the Orlando Science Center's annual Spark STEM Fest - scholarship and operational support for the Photonics Summer Camp hosted by CREOL, The College of Optics & Photonics - the purchase of laser-ray box kits to introduce optics and photonics to high school students - operational support to FPC In prior years, these same grants have supported development of a Optics & Photonics Career Guide and a short informational video targeted towards high school students. (Repost) You may have seen the exciting news that the Dana Foundation has selected the BSCP for inclusion in the nationwide Civic Science Fellows (CSF) program. The CSF program "invests in a new cohort of leaders and fosters new collaborations, allowing science and research to more meaningfully connect with diverse communities and our shared civic life." This is the first time we’re aware that either a fellowship of this kind has been awarded either to UC Berkeley or in psychedelic research, so it's a major milestone for us, for the psychedelic research field, and for the Dana Foundation as a high-profile institutional grant-maker. The fellowship is a unique opportunity for an early career researcher to help create the future of what civic engagement with psychedelic science looks like. There'll be research involved, but in their 18 month fellowship we'll also be expecting significant and practical community-based or social initiatives that advance civic interests in psychedelic research, not just academic ones. If ever there was an organisation that really reflected the core principals of inclusivity and opportunity for young people to engage with STEM it is SciFest CLG The volunteerism of its founder Sheila Porter is nothing short of outstanding. An organisation that has such impactful outreach but is reliant on volunteerism is worrying. Sponsors need to get on board to maintain these opportunities for students. Unlike other science STEM organisations in Ireland, there is no fee, there is no elimination after work has begun, there is a chance for Science communication at all levels for all students. There is an evidenced pathway to success for students. What I saw this year at Regeneron ISEF, the worlds most prestigious pre collliagiate science fair, was the world esteem that SciFest CLG is held in. For the organisation to do so much with so little, to be held in the regard it is, is an achievement of note for Ireland. To put our students on a world stage, and to achieve success, is testament to a model that supports our growing STEM achievements, and yet we are a very small country. This little country can compete with the funded nations, imagine what we could achieve with effective financing!!
