With the finalists just announced for the upcoming #DICEAwards, we wanted to reflect on the incredible variety on offer between these video game titles. From trying to choose between characters like Baldur’s Gate 3’s Astarion against Thirsty Suitor’s Jala, or the incredible animation in Hi-Fi RUSH up against that of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it gets harder every year to pick a favourite when every game offers something so incomparably unique. Even DAVE THE DIVER delivers a narrative so different to Alan Wake 2, it feels criminal to even compare. So much of what we love in video production for gaming stems from these nuances, making each project different from the last. Combining skills from the ‘gaming production toolbox’ each time to craft a one-of-a-kind capture trailer, live action piece, or suite of content involving all of the above. With projects so varied, there’s really no one way to pick favourites. Whoever takes home a DICE Awards win, it’s clear that each title is well-deserving of doing so, for completely different reasons.
