Maybe I'm showing my age now, but remember the conundrum in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: they knew that the answer to the most important question was 42, but they didn't know what question it answered. This, to me, sums up where we are with AI: we know it's the solution, but the solution to what exactly? We know it's the answer, but the answer to what question exactly? Sounds like we need to think about what the question is; then look for the answer, because no wants AI to be a solution in search of a problem.
