How do other professionals out there feel about interviewing? Are there any tried and true methods you use to prepare for a big interview?
Have you ever psyched yourself out for an interview? I recently had an experience where I interviewed for a job that could change my life. I spent the past two weeks gathering info on the company and the tools they use in the position. I watched endless videos on how to answer behavioral questions and what to ask the interviewee at the end. I had 7 pages of notes I reflected on each day. During the interview, I still felt anxiety. I still tripped over my own words. I still rambled. When the call ended, I sat with my head in my hands for a minute thinking about how I would rate myself if I had been the interviewer. Let's just say I wouldn't win any awards. Is this imposter syndrome creeping its nasty little self into my mind? Is it possible to over-prepare for an interview? I would love to know other people's interview prep methods that leave them feeling confident going in and coming out of an interview. #interviewprep #greenbannergang #learningdesign

Can filler words ruin an interview? I remember a time when I was interviewing for a new role...in another life. It seemed like the perfect fit—I had all the right skills and experience, and the transition would have been seamless. The interview was going well until I noticed something interesting about the interviewer's way of expressing herself. Every time she covered a topic, she would ask, "Does that make sense?" Not just once or twice, but a lot —around 15 times during our hour-and-a-half conversation. It highjacked my attention, and as much as I wanted to focus on the opportunity, this repeated phrase was so distracting. A couple of days after the interview, she offered me the job, but I already knew it wasn't a good fit. This experience taught me an important lesson: whether you're the interviewer or the interviewee, repeated use of filler words like: "um" "ah" "like" "you know" "does that make sense" Will absolutely undermine your message. While they might give you a moment to think, they can also distract from your overall communication. In interviews, being clear and confident is key. Let's aim to communicate with purpose and reduce those fillers. It can make all the difference in making a strong impression. Liza 🌸 #fillerwords #interview #communicatewithintention

🎤 Interview Experience Reflection🎤 I recently had the opportunity to sit for yet another interview, and let me tell you, those butterflies in the stomach? They never get old! 🦋 No matter how many interviews I’ve given, the excitement and anticipation always remain the same. It’s a unique mix of nervousness and exhilaration that keeps me on my toes. During this interview, I was reminded of a couple of key points: 1. Stick to What’s Asked:It’s so easy to start blabbering when you're nervous. Remember, concise and relevant answers are key. Stay focused on the question at hand and provide clear, succinct responses. Overloading with unnecessary details can sometimes dilute your core message. 2. Be Prepared with Questions: Interviews are a two-way street. It’s equally important to have a set of thoughtful questions ready to ask your interviewers. This not only shows your genuine interest in the role and company but also helps you gauge if the organization is the right fit for you. Overall, each interview is a learning experience, helping me refine my approach and build confidence. Here’s to embracing the butterflies and continuously growing! 🦋✨ #InterviewExperience #JobSearch #CareerGrowth #InterviewTips #ProfessionalJourney

"Ever felt the pressure to respond immediately during an interview, only to worry that your silence might be misinterpreted?" Kavya, a talented Engineer, dreaded interviews because she often needed a moment to gather her thoughts before answering questions. During one interview, the hiring manager asked a complex problem-solving question. Kavya paused to think, but the silence felt uncomfortable. The interviewer mistook her thoughtful pause for uncertainty or lack of knowledge, which made Kavya even more anxious. For some of us like Kavya, thinking before speaking can be misinterpreted as a lack of confidence or understanding. If you are feeling the same, How can we avoid this? Here is one simple technique To handle this, all you have to do is to communicate your need by saying, “That's an interesting question. Let me take a moment to think about it." This simple statement helped set expectations and showed that she was thoughtful rather than uncertain. Have you ever felt pressured to respond immediately during an interview? This will help you to remember that it's okay to take a moment to gather your thoughts. By clearly communicating your need for a pause, you can showcase your thoughtful nature and problem-solving skills. #InterviewTips #IntrovertStrengths #ProfessionalDevelopment #
