Our software helps asbestos surveyors free up report writing time to focus on what matters | 250+ clients worldwide
I have equal parts admiration and dread for surveying companies determined to build their own reporting software... * Admiration because they see the bottlenecks in their business (usually the time it takes to write reports), and want to solve those issues. * Dread because, although they're no doubt excellent at their work, software development is a minefield: 🤑 Costs spiralling out of control. 🤑 Projects that overrun. 🤑 Developers not understanding your vision. And, here's the worst part... When the software is ready, you might not even enjoy using it. I know companies who have binned software that cost them hundreds of thousands. Its usually better to find existing software that already does 90% of what you need. And then spend your time working to unlock that last 10%. David King 🔥 and I do this all the time. We use existing software rather than building our own, then spend time mastering how to customise it.

There are two ways of constructing a software design. One way is to make it so simple that there are no obvious deficiencies. And the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies. ― C. A. R. Hoare

🚀 Exploring Software Architectures: Thick Client vs. Thin Client 🌐 In the world of software development, architectural decisions are pivotal in shaping how applications function and interact with users. One such decision is choosing between a thick client and a thin client architecture for client-server systems. In the realm of client-server systems, the architectural choices of thick client and thin client play a significant role in shaping software applications. Let's explore the key differences: 👉 **Thick Client** (or Fat Client): - Performs most processing on the client side. - Offers a rich, often standalone user interface. - Requires more client-side resources. - Examples include traditional desktop applications like Microsoft Office. 👉 **Thin Client**: - Relies heavily on the server for processing tasks. - Has a minimal user interface. - Often accessed through web browsers. - Requires less client-side resources. The choice between these architectures depends on factors like the application's nature, desired user experience, and available resources. Each has its strengths and is suited for different scenarios. Understanding these differences can help in making informed decisions in software development. #SoftwareArchitecture #ClientServer #ThickClient #ThinClient #TechTrends
