It’s not every day you get to be part of something that feels like the future. After working with the HeyGen team for a few months, I knew joining full-time was the right next step in my career. I initially started contracting with HeyGen to see if it was the right fit for both sides. Working closely with Wayne, Joshua, and the team, I was impressed by their speed, scrappiness, and execution. After three months, the decision to join full-time was an easy one. SKOs are not for tech training, product roadmap updates, comp plan changes, an hour walking through this year's marketing strategy or that deep competitive landscape update. All of those are important but can be done just as effectively in a remote format. If that was the entire agenda, would you spend the money to get everyone together in one place? Likely not. SKOs are about culture. Community. Building and reinforcing a sense of in-this-together, helping your team feel part of something bigger than themselves. Motivation and accountability can happen 1:1 and remotely, but there's something special about creating both and more with a unique, in-person experience. And in an environment where collaboration is more important than ever, where sales and marketing teams are working more closely together at a tactical level, when selling is 100% a team sport - building alignment and empathy and excitement for those GTM team is rocket fuel and well worth the time/cost of getting everyone together. SKOs are about more than what you want your GTM teams to know. They're about how you want them to feel with a sense of connection, alignment and togetherness that is reinforced in the months to come.
