Are you enthusiastic about teaching students how to code? Here is a list of basic things to consider before embarking on this journey. 1. Start from the ground up. Look for resources that teach how to build a CS program. 2. Be willing to accept students from different backgrounds. 3. Understand the abilities and interests of each student. 4. Teach beginners basic computational thinking skills. 5. Alternate between block-based coding and text-based coding for intermediate students. 6. Use AI to generate and fix lines of code. We are Gradehub AI and we help instructors save time in conducting and grading coding tutorials with AI. If you find this post helpful, please like and retweet the post. The New Software Team, inspired by Fixie's Dr. Matt Welsh's talk to computer science students (CS50 Tech Talk). Matt Welsh is co-founder and Chief Architect of Fixie.ai, a Seattle-based startup developing a new computational platform with AI at the core. He was previously head of engineering at OctoML, a software engineer at Apple and Xnor.ai, engineering director at Google, and a Professor of Computer Science at Harvard University. He holds a PhD from UC Berkeley. I don't think programming or coding is dead per se, however, the way we teach or approach it will fundamentally need to change. What "coding" means to us will also change, as well as the look and feel of it. For example, prompt engineering will need to be added to STEM curriculums and teachers as well as primary and high school students will need to be taught how to become adept at using prompt engineering in their every day lives as well as in the process of creating great content (for their social media channels) or applications in a digital world. We will need to teach future computer science learners how to use AI to build more complex systems. Today we don't need to know how to implement languages like Python or C++, what we do need to know, is how to use it. The same approach will apply to AI; we may not need to understand all the intricacies and complexities of AI but rather, how do we use LLMs, AI application programming interfaces (APIs), AI plug-ins, GPTs, AI assistants and agents in our tech stack or workflows to simplify and augment the creative product creation process. So here is a presentation I created to illustrate how I see what the software team of the future potentially might look. #AI #AugmentedIntelligence #NewSoftwareProcess #AICodeReview #CodeWithAI #ProductManagement #ComputerScience #Coding
