When we got there, the proprietor kindly suggested we meet up later instead, since they were busy. We decided to return two months later, with a representative flying in from Europe to engage with the proprietor and other potential clients. We have seen many Sponsorships over the many years include on their team a "Capital Markets" guy or gal. This person is supposed to add value by finding the Direct Capital for the Sponsorship's Deals. Instead they end up sending the Deals to Brokers. HJ has been the recipient of many of these Deals. How are they adding value? I see the same thing with Syndicators post rate hikes, interloping into Sponsorship's Deals promising Direct Access to Deal Capital only to send the Deals to Brokers. How are they adding value? HJ gladly reviews the Deals and in some cases move them forward. However, it does reflect poorly in the Capital Market's mind that these Sponsorships are employing an unnecessary expensive layer to the Deal.
