The reason most of us find it hard to put ourselves and our careers out there is that we don't want others to see us struggling. If was on a call with someone who booked a career clarity session with me, and I told him, "You have no excuse not to create content and build a personal brand around your new career. He went on to give me 1001 reasons why he can't: "I’m still a beginner." "I’m still confused." "I don’t know anything yet about cybersecurity." "My colleagues would laugh at me." "Recruiters will look down on me." "No one would connect with me." All these are excuses, and it’s all because you don't want others to see you trying or struggling. I started putting out content from the very first day I decided to transition into cybersecurity. I had no idea what I was doing or how the industry would treat me. It wasn’t easy, but I did it afraid anyway because I wasn’t scared of people seeing me try. Back then, I couldn’t write a single sentence without running to Grammarly because I felt I wasn’t articulate enough for people to read and understand… what a big lie I told myself! 🤣🤣🤣 There wouldn’t be this Damilola today if that novice Damilola hadn’t decided to take the step to put herself out there. To grow, you need to leave your comfort zone. I promise you, it will open doors. You don’t need this advice, honestly you just need to start. So what’s stopping you?
