Yesterday was Father's Day, and the weight of this holiday hits hard because my dad has been gone for almost two years. Every time I walk to the hives, I look over at his milk crate underneath the tall, old pine tree. He called it his "front row seat." It was his favorite spot to sit and watch me crack open the hives and inspect the bees. After I checked the colonies, Dad and I would always meet on the back porch to talk about them. He was always amazed by the bee stories I told him. Now, every time I check those bees, I'll look over my shoulder and see that milk crate, imagining Dad is sitting right there watching me. I’m going to miss that dude.

Wishing everyone a day filled with sun, food, and good company celebrating this 4th of July. Considering we're a company with a dog at the center of our brand, we'd be remiss not to mention a few friendly reminders when it comes to our furry companions this time of year. 1. Make sure to keep your pets inside. Fireworks are loud and often scary for our pets - reduce runaways by keeping them secured in your home. 2. Tired dogs are happy dogs. Try and exercise your pet so they're more relaxed and less wound up when the fireworks start going off. (If you're in an area experiencing a heat wave, try some indoor activities (like sniffing games and indoor fetch). 3. Create a safe and quiet place. Try making their kennel extra cozy by draping a throw over the top, or provide plenty of blankets to burrow. 4. Try giving them a high value treat to occupy them while the fireworks are happing. Like a new bone, or a snuffle mat to keep them busy. We hope you and your furry family stay safe, have fun, and celebrate our country proudly! P.S. Enjoy AI's take on dogs at a 4th of July barbecue!

If you JUST thought about meds today - you are already too late. Start making those phone calls ASAP! Make sure your microchips are updated and registered as well. Snoods and headphones are also helpful for some kiddos. If you are a newer pet parent, these are great tips. I like to make sure there is plenty of white noise in my house as well. Thundershirts can help - in my home one 1 of my 3 pups will calm down with a Thundershirt alone. There will be some meds on boards as well as some calming chews over here... What are some of your tips to keep your furrbabies from stressing out over the noisy holidays?

This is me as a boy, trapped in a pear tree surrounded by cows expecting more pears than were left on the tree. I love how DALL-E lets you generate memories like this. It’s a strange visual. My family still gets a kick out of this story. For a brief while I was a cow god. I had climbed up this tree and shook every pear down in an effort to feed these cows. They loved every minute of it, and it was fun. But I didn’t think ahead. I ended up trapped by about 20 happy cows looking up at me waiting for the next pear. I didn’t want to alarm anyone, so calling up to the farmhouse for help sounded almost bored. My father came and scattered the herd with a branch so I could get down. My mistake? I just wanted to make the cows happy but I didn’t think ahead. In a similar vein, in the professional world, I think we can sometimes get trapped in a position where we’re “shaking the pear tree” trying to do things for as many people as possible. Before you know it, that’s everyone’s expectation of you. But you’ve expended what you can give. And you’re stuck in that position. It’s good to help people. There’s just a way to do it that isn’t compromising your own position and strategy for the future. Help strategically. Pace it out. Don’t trap yourself in the pear tree. Something to keep in mind. 😉 And no, I’m not calling anyone a cow . 😂

🎆🐾 Fireworks might be fun for us, but for our furry friends, they can be a source of stress and anxiety. As you celebrate this week, let's remember to show compassion to our beloved pets. Here are some tips to help your dogs feel safe and calm during the festivities: Create a Safe Space: Provide a quiet, comfortable area where your dog can retreat to if they feel scared. Distraction is Key: Keep them occupied with their favorite toys or a treat-filled puzzle. Stay Calm: Your pet looks to you for cues. Remaining calm and comforting can help them feel more secure. Use Calming Products: Consider using a Thunder shirt, calming treats, or pheromone sprays to reduce anxiety. Keep Them Indoors: During fireworks, keep your pets indoors with windows and doors closed to minimize the noise. ❤️🐶
