✨ While everyone is enjoying the season's festive atmosphere, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the recent Social Sustainability Summit hosted by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) in New York. Stephanie Beaumont, our Director, Americas, attended the event and experienced a wonderful blend of innovative ideas advancing equity, resilience, and well-being—all centered around the Social pillar of ESG. Attendees explored real-world examples of groundbreaking designs and impactful leadership strategies, with sessions highlighting how these efforts are shaping communities and workplaces. 🔥 A standout moment was the fireside chat between Rachel Hodgdon and Chrissa Pagitsas, which explored how leadership can foster a more sustainable and equitable future through collaboration and purposeful actions. 💡 Informed decisions start with education. The session on Empowering People: The Heart of a Just Transition emphasized the critical role of advocacy and education—highlighting that awareness is the foundation of informed, impactful decisions. 🪴We were also inspired by GSK’s Platinum-certified London office, which features an indoor farm that supports their employee restaurant. It’s a compelling example of how workplaces can seamlessly integrate sustainability and employee well-being. As we wrap up the year, we’re grateful for events like these that spark important conversations and inspire action toward a better future. #ConsciousEngineering | #greenbuilding | #sustainability | #weareWELL

In 2017 we developed a programme based on the recommendations of the Thriving at Work report (Paul Farmer & Lord Dennis Stevenson) focused on developing leadership confidence to talk about what matters most to people at work. It included one of the largest global applications of the PERMA model by Martin Seligman. 7 years on, it is just as relevant today as it was then if not more so, and the language we now use has evolved from thriving, not just for business success but for #humansustainability This step forward is so significant and Deloitte have produced a wonderful article on this move for Wellbeing 2.0 As discussed with Kirsten Samuel and Chris Cummings last month in our global live event (link to watch here: https://lnkd.in/gvcyepih ) this move to a more holistic approach to wellbeing in organisations aligns to new generations perspectives on purpose and meaning. Earth Day, April 22, 2024 ~ Leading with Purpose: Nurturing Leadership for a Sustainable Future Effective leadership extends beyond traditional business metrics in today's rapidly changing world. It requires a holistic approach that considers our planet's and future generations' well-being. Leaders have a responsibility to not only drive organizational success but also to responsibly steward the Earth's resources. Here are a few ways I believe leadership can make a meaningful impact on the health of our planet: Setting the Example: As leaders, actions speak louder than words. By adopting sustainable practices within our organizations, we demonstrate our commitment to environmental responsibility and inspire others to follow suit. Fostering Innovation: Leadership involves empowering others to think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex problems. By encouraging a culture of sustainability and providing resources for green initiatives, we can unleash our teams' creative potential to address environmental challenges. Collaboration and Advocacy: True leadership is about collaboration and advocacy. By partnering with like-minded organizations and advocating for policies that promote environmental protection, we can amplify our impact and drive systemic change on a larger scale. Education and Awareness: Leadership also involves educating ourselves and others about the importance of environmental conservation. By raising awareness about the interconnectedness of our actions and the planet's health, we can inspire individuals to make more sustainable choices in their personal and professional lives. On a personal level, we can each assume an eco-leadership role. One of my contributions is my daily walkabout on the sidewalks around our building, at a four-way street corner with a lot of foot traffic. Equipped with gloves and a trash picker reacher grabber tool, throughout the spring, summer, and early fall, I pick up litter and recyclable items left on the ground. It's a twofer as I get to move as I clean up. As part of the gardening team, I also plant bee and butterfly-friendly flowers, beautifying our surroundings. I read once that people in cities in Germany take responsibility for the sidewalk in front of their homes in this way. It may seem like a drop of water in a giant bucket, but at this time in the life of our planet, every contribution makes a difference. #earthday2024 #ecoleadership #leadership #stewardshipoftheplanet #protectingearthresources #keepingourplanetclean #socialconsciousness

In today's workplace, the decisions we make don't just impact our careers—they also affect our environment. Professional politics, such as internal power struggles or prioritizing profits over sustainability, can sometimes lead to decisions that harm our planet. But it doesn't have to be that way. By advocating for green practices and prioritizing eco-friendly policies, we can influence our organizations to make choices that benefit both the business and the environment. Let’s work together to create a culture where sustainability isn’t just an option, but a priority. Together, we can make a difference. 🌿 #Sustainability #Leadership #WorkplaceCulture #newbignining❤️

The Awareness <> Action Gap is the space between understanding and doing. In terms of the climate crisis we've known about it for a while, and the big challenge we're all facing is how do we close it. In the workplace, things get even trickier. Differing roles, responsibilities, and spheres of influence. Competing priorities. And of course, lack of resources, sometimes combined with lack of leadership. A key component is engagement. Meaningful engagement to support culture change and drive action. That's why everyone at Team Jump is excited to share our latest bit of research on Sustainability Engagement Trends in 2024. This report analyses research from 1,500 employees in the UK to understand the extent of the Awareness <> Action Gap and practically what employers can do to close it.
