This article from Nosh.com (link in the comments) popped up in my email and it caught my eye because it featured prominently our clients NoBull Burger (and our packaging design!) - then I dug into it and found a very interesting take on big shows (Expo West) and smaller, regional shows and the perspective that brands have when it comes to participating, or not participating, in these shows - here’s a quick summary: At the Virginia Food and Beverage Expo, nearly 200 local brands showcased their innovations. Amid economic considerations, brands like NoBull Burgers and True Made Foods chose strategic focus over larger trade shows, prioritizing direct marketing and customer engagement. Key takeaway: In today's tight economic climate, emerging brands are becoming highly strategic with their resources to foster sustainable growth. It’s very interesting hearing brands leaning into the smaller shows - we’re lucky in North Carolina to have the Flavors of Carolina show which is one of the best shows I’ve gotten to attend because of its size and hyper focus on bringing retailers and NC brands together. I am going to miss attending Spielwarenmesse eG this year. A remarkable event that brings together toy industry professionals from all over the world. Exhibitors, on the other hand, will surely not notice my absence since the number of toy distributors in UAE are on the rise! The toy industry in UAE alone is becoming increasingly competitive due to the large number of distributors vying for a share of the market, considering that we have a population of 10 million. Three things to keep in mind if you are a toy distributor in GCC visiting the toy fair: 1. It is crucial for us to correct the GCC market perspective in the international landscape. So fellow distributors, please provide a realistic outlook about the region to the brands you meet in Nuremberg by keeping your volume commitments aggressive but realistic, no matter how large your financial resources may be. 2. Collaboration is the way forward and essential for success in our region. The retail industry is facing challenges, our customer base is shrinking and getting our payments from customers in the region has become a joke. By working together, we can overcome the obstacles we face and find innovative solutions to drive growth in our region. 3. Wear very comfortable shoes!
