Real off-road autonomy in Central California. Watch as our OverDrive autonomy stack navigates an uncrewed vehicle through trails, tall grass, oak trees, and some pretty gnarly hills. Some of the challenges in this terrain are invisible, including the slip that tall grass can induce on steep inclines. No prior maps, no pre-defined path, no driver. What would #emissions look like in #mixedautonomy traffic? Together with Abdulrahman Alhariqi and Meead Saberi, we explored the Waymo Open Dataset. The largest environmental benefits were found when an AV is in the lead position. However, when an AV is following an HV, the AVs were observed to drive more conservatively for safety purposes, with a larger time gap and deceleration, resulting in higher emissions compared to when an HV is following another HV.

🤖 Watch KRYTN Navigate Autonomously! After setting up teleoperation and mapping, Krytn is now enabled autonomous navigation. What's exciting? KRYTN doesn’t just follow a straight line, it dynamically adjusts its path using local (red) and global (green) plans, constantly refining its route based on the local and global costmaps to avoid obstacles and ensure a smooth journey. Check out the video to see KRYTN in action, effortlessly navigating its surroundings and correcting itself in real-time.
