"The time is now to work together" Applied Information recently participated in a ground-breaking demonstration of ITS technology at the Texas Department of Transportation's Connected Vehicle Innovation Summit. This event assembled a panel of industry experts to delve into the advancement and deployment of connected vehicle technologies. Amidst a backdrop of increasing road incidents and distracted driving, the conference highlighted the critical role of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technologies in mitigating up to 80% of non-impaired crashes. The day was marked by insightful discussions, a Q&A session with the expert panel, and live demonstrations featuring vehicles from Tesla, Dodge RAM, and Audi. These vehicles were equipped with cutting-edge technology from Applied Information and HAAS Alert, showcasing real-time in-vehicle and app-based notifications for drivers upon entering hazardous zones like school and work zones, or when pedestrians and emergency vehicles are nearby. The event not only underscored the urgency of deploying connected vehicle technologies but also celebrated the collaborative spirit among automakers, technology providers, and government agencies. By sharing insights and exploring the potential of these technologies, participants aimed to enhance road safety and pave the way for a future where connected vehicles significantly reduce traffic fatalities. The success of the conference and demo day in Houston represents a significant step forward in fostering relationships across the industry and advancing towards the shared goal of Vision Zero, where no lives are lost on the roads. ADAS Advancements: Witnessed how ADAS suppliers are leveraging LIDAR technology for ground truth and perception. I was surprised to see them passing NCAP regulations with it. 2. Hardware + Software Synergy: Noticed a growing trend among hardware suppliers—they’re increasingly integrating software solutions with their hardware offerings. Keep an eye out for my new paper titled: A Technical Overview of Current "New Space" LEO-PNT Initiatives and Their Application Potential. The paper will sumarize the technical specifications of the latest new space LEO-PNT iniatives and link them to application needs. The applications analyzed include autonomous driving, first responders, maritime navigation, and pedestrian tracking.
