💎 The Double Diamond Framework: From Problems to Solutions 💎 At the Center for Behavioral Decisions, we believe every problem has a structured pathway to its solution. The Double Diamond methodology helps us navigate complex challenges with clarity and precision: 🔍 Discover: Dive deep into the problem space and gather insights. 💡 Define: Focus on the core issue that needs solving. ✍️ Develop: Brainstorm and prototype potential solutions. 👍 Deliver: Test, refine, and implement the best solution. This process ensures we balance research and design thinking to create meaningful, practical outcomes for our clients. #BehavioralScience #DesignThinking #Innovation #ProblemSolving #DoubleDiamond #BehavioralInsights

How tightly do we hold on to frameworks? 🔧 Frameworks serve as maps to mental models, but they might have a shelf-life. Understanding the terrain under that map is essential. 🗺️ For example, look at the Voros Cone's (Futures cone) 7Ps: → Potential Futures - anything beyond the present is possible. → Preposterous Futures - seemingly ridiculous today may become tomorrow’s breakthrough. → Possible Futures - imaginable developments that hinge on future knowledge. → Plausible Futures - based on what we currently know and can anticipate. → Projected Futures - a continuation of past and present trends into the future. → Probable Futures - today's context is subject to abrupt changes as new trends emerge. → Preferable Futures - what we hope will happen, contrasted with non-preferable scenarios we strive to avoid. These are each very valuable, but the framework itself has some limitations. 💡 The categorization might lead to abstract scenarios that need more specificity for actionable next steps. Cone building often needs data, foresight, or some trend analysis to be able to action steps towards or away from a future scenario. There’s something underneath our use of models; I am not yet sure what to call it—wisdom, interoperability, value, inspiration. I plan to explore this in some later posts… Some Prompts to consider: What is the usability of frameworks? What supports are needed to make the frameworks usable? What future are you preparing for? What underlies our mental models? #StrategicThinking #FutureTrends #StrategicPlanning #Leadership #ChangeManagement

This is one of my favorite topics - Futures & Foresight - where we distill patterns by connecting signals and trends to hunch where the future is headed, to create future worlds where we design new ideas/businesses that meet the needs of customers that live within those futures. What needs to be true about your business to be successful 10 years from now? We've been working with retailers, banks and utility companies to answer this question. Please reach out to discuss how we can help you derisk today's investments using Futures & Foresight. Predicting the future sounds awesome (but, let’s face it, improbable). That’s why preparing for it beats predicting it any day of the week. So, how do we go about that? As a craft leader at the intersection of the human experience, business strategy, and technology, the most effective and comprehensive tools IMO are strategic foresight & speculative design. Enter our Futures & Foresight offering: a multidisciplinary, mixed-methods approach that allows us to understand the complex interplay of cultural 💬 , technological 🤖 , and political 🌐 signals at play, providing clarity on the shapes tomorrow might take, and the strategic paths that can lead to success. With an unwavering commitment to craft—whether it's speculative design, human-centered design, systems thinking, serious play, and many other methods—we cut through the noise to deliver transformative, actionable insights. Through this, we move from “guessing” to “preparing”, equipping ourselves not only to navigate the future, but to influence it as well. See below to learn more, and, if you’re ready to ditch the 🔮 crystal ball 🔮, please reach out directly, always up for an exploratory chat. 🎓 Understanding Survivorship Bias #LearnWithInterpret 🧠 In the rush of product launches and post-release analysis, it's crucial not to fall into the trap of Survivorship Bias. This cognitive bias leads us to focus only on the successes or those who "survived" a process, while ignoring valuable lessons from those who did not. 💡Always aim to gather a complete dataset that includes all voices and experiences to make informed decisions and drive better outcomes. #GameDevelopment #CognitiveBias #MarketResearch

The Art of More is a data-driven business which operates on the evidence-based conviction that there is always opportunity to do more. We help people to find and prioritise those opportunities, and unlock them for impact. We challenge convention and encourage people to bring conscious curiosity to problems, to find new, more effective ways to work. We hunt down better intelligence and simplify the complex, turning insight into action to focus effort. We help people to make sense of and respond to change and uncertainty to make new possibilities happen. Success is an Art and a Science concerned with measurable evidence that informs action. The most critical things are: - Knowing what information to seek, - Having the ability to extract insights, - Finding the opportunities within that and - Having the capability to maximise those opportunities to have greater impact. Put simply, making a measurable difference. That’s what we do. Welcome to The The Art of More.
