Paul Rand, a legendary graphic designer, knew the power of design in shaping perceptions. As the mind behind iconic logos like IBM, ABC, and UPS, Rand understood that great design communicates without words—it tells a story, creates trust, and leaves a lasting impression. At the Center for Behavioral Decisions, we believe design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about purpose. Whether we’re designing behavioral interventions, gamification strategies, or user experiences, our goal is to ensure every element speaks volumes about the value and mission behind the work. 💡 #DesignMatters #BehavioralScience #PaulRand #Branding #Innovation #CenterForBehavioralDecisions

🌟 Exciting Update! 🌟 I’m thrilled to share that I’ve just completed the Create a Character feature for my Universal Studios-themed video game project! 🎮 This feature allows players to design and customize their own “Park Hopper,” fully tailored to navigate the unique adventures in the game world. From selecting facial features, body types, and hairstyles to adding accessories and outfit choices, each Park Hopper reflects the player's style and preferences. Plus, I incorporated a "podium preview" where the character stands alongside an interactive menu for a streamlined, fun experience! Building this feature has been a fantastic journey, allowing me to deepen my skills in UX design and character customization systems, while ensuring that every player can feel connected to their personalized avatar. Stay tuned for more updates on this project, and thanks for following along on this creative journey! #GameDesign #CharacterCreation #UniversalStudios #VideoGameDevelopment #UXDesign #ProjectUpdate #ProudMoment #UXDesign #UIDesign #GraphicDesign #VideoGameDesign #Figma #Photoshop #Illustrator #AdobeCreativeSuite #UniversalStudios #UniversalCreative #DesignInspiration #UserExperience #GameDev #DigitalArt #CharacterDesign #CreativeProcess #DesignCommunity #DesignThinking #UserInterface #VisualDesign #AdobePhotoshop #AdobeIllustrator #AdobeXD #DigitalDesign #InteractiveDesign #CharacterCustomization #GamingIndustry #DesignJourney #PortfolioProject #CreativeTech #DesignLife #DesignProcess #CreativeDesign #3DDesign #LevelDesign #UXResearch #GameArt #ConceptArt #InteractiveMedia #ProductDesign #DesignInnovation #CreativeDirection #ArtDirection #GameDesignLife #IndieGameDev #VirtualExperience #ImmersiveDesign #DigitalExperience #GameUI #UIUX #GameCharacter #CreativeTools #GameDevelopment #UserCenteredDesign #GamingCommunity #DesignGoals #UIAnimation #ExperienceDesign #PrototypeDesign #UIUXDesign

In digital product design, first impressions are everything. The Halo Effect, a cognitive bias where our overall impression of something influences our judgments about its specific traits, is a powerful tool. Creating an engaging and intuitive initial experience can positively shape users' perceptions of your entire product. By focusing on clean layouts, attractive visuals, and smooth interactions, we can make users more forgiving of minor flaws and more inclined to explore further. A strong first impression can set the stage for a lasting user relationship. Let’s design with the Halo Effect in mind to create digital products that captivate and delight from the very first interaction! 🚀✨ #ProductDesign #DesignThinking #Psychologyindesign #UserExperience

𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐚𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐬: 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧 𝐎𝐥𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫 🎯🏅 Hey, design community! I recently came across an inspiring story from the Olympics. A Turkish gun shooter won a silver medal without using any special equipment or gadgets. This got me thinking about our work as designers and how this story relates to us: 1. 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬: Just like the shooter, mastering our design skills is more important than relying on the latest tools. Whether it’s graphic design, UX, or UI, strong fundamentals are key. 2. 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The shooter’s success despite lacking advanced equipment shows the power of being adaptable and innovative. In our field, making the most of what we have and thinking outside the box often leads to the best solutions. 3. 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐬: The shooter’s win underscores that success often comes from a deep understanding of the basics. In design, this means mastering core principles and techniques. 4. 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲: Sometimes, simplicity and efficiency lead to the best outcomes. The shooter’s minimalist approach is a great reminder that in design, less can be more, leading to clean and user-friendly designs. 5. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞: As athletes likely spent years perfecting their aim, we should continually refine our skills and knowledge. Continuous improvement is essential to excel in our craft. This Olympic story is a powerful reminder that while having the right tools can help, our skills, creativity, and adaptability truly make us champions in our field. 🏆 #DesignSkills #GraphicDesign #UXDesign #UserExperience #DesignThinking #CreativeProcess #ContinuousImprovement #DesignerCommunity #UserResearch

𝟬𝟰 - 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 While level exploration is not an exact science and every player behaves differently, there are general behavior patterns that can be considered when designing a free-navigation level. Players tend to be attracted to areas they perceive will provide the greatest and most immediate reward. In this example, the player needs to find and collect 4 boxes in any order. The question is: 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹? The player has the following information: 𝟭. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝟮. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝟯. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁 The player’s brain rewards them in two key moments: first, when they locate a box, and second, when they collect it. Interestingly, locating a box but leaving it behind often provides a smaller sense of reward than the anticipation of finding and collecting another box just around the corner. Based on this, here’s a typical exploration path the player might take: 𝟭. They see Box D clearly in the distance with no mystery about it—"Great, I know where that is" (partial reward)—but they don’t necessarily head straight for it. 𝟮. Instead, they decide to check the corner immediately to their left and find Box A. Great! Seems like there might be boxes hidden around corners. 𝟯. Remembering the more distant corner to the right, they backtrack and collect Box C. 𝟰. With no further clues in sight, they now head for the sure thing: Box D. 𝟱. With all visible areas explored and no new visual cues, they enter "search mode". 𝟲. Turning around, they notice something they hadn’t before: the skyline opens up between two nondescript buildings, revealing a path to an unexplored area. 𝟳. Following this path, they soon discover the fourth and final box, Box B. What do you think—would the player behave differently in your experience? #GameDesign #LevelDesign #PlayerBehavior #GameDev #UXDesign #GameMechanics #EnvironmentArt #GameDevelopment #LevelFlow
