To have more diverse clinical trials, participation needs to be easily accessible—ensuring treatments and tools can work for more people. There is a decades-long history of Alzheimer’s research being “centered in memory clinics at elite academic institutions, which tend to attract well-heeled patients with health insurance and other resources.” Now that we have better biomarkers, it doesn’t have to be this way. At Cogstate, we’re working to bridge the gap, developing diagnostic tools to support trial recruiters, physicians, and patients from all backgrounds. https://lnkd.in/gQcQ_Dp4
New Alzheimer’s drugs bring hope. But not equally for all patients.

Builder of Meaningful Relationships, asker of Tough Questions, known for nurturing Wild Ideas and speaking Inconvenient Truths. Currently, I'm redefining what's possible between tech, patient, provider, and payor.
When we talk about changing the way people work -- and therefore get paid -- you need leaders with not only vision, but deep understanding of the issues. at OMI, it starts with Dr. Pecora's clinical insight gleaned from years of practice. Luckily, he shares those lessons freely. #OutcomesBasedCare

𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐚 𝐋𝐨𝐰-𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐚.𝐤.𝐚. 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧? Concussion, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and mild Traumatic Brain Injury (mTBI) are often used interchangeably. Which brings us to these questions: - How often do car-accident related TBIs occur? - How would you know if you have it? - And, is it usually permanent or long-lasting brain injury? About 80% of TBIs are considered mild (mTBI). Most are caused from low speed car accidents, and the majority (about 80%) of mTBI improve within 3-6 months with varying degrees permanent brain impairments such as memory loss, depression, anxieties, thought process or cognitive process, irritability, sleep disorder, mood swings, etc.. Long-term, unresolved TBIs are often referred to as: “post-concussive syndrome.” It is always best to get checked out by an injury specialist or a neurologist immediately after your car accident. The sooner TBI treatment begins, the better recovery you will experience. Injury Treatment Centers of Kansas City is the only clinic in the KC that uses the only FDA cleared machine (EEG/ERP) to test for mTBI.

It's been a pleasure to work with SIRA as a committee member representing Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) to update the Lower Back Pain Model of care and excited to see this published. I've always been a huge advocate for early engagement in exercise, activity and work following an episode of back pain and to have this document to provide to patients and doctors will go a long way in reducing unnecessary surgeries, opioid medications, rest (atrophy and weakness), pain and disability. https://lnkd.in/gEU8XgQS #exercisephysiology #lowerbackpain #exerciseismedicine
