📢 Introducing Our Team: The people behind BeCA Welcome everyone! We're excited to introduce you to the talented Pilots who make up our team at BeCA This week, we'd like to shine a spotlight on Cpt Bert Aerts: I am Bert Aerts, Captain A32F at Brussels Airlines, and flying for 17 years now. I am a BeCA member, working on FT/DT topics, and I am currently also vice-chair of ECA's FTL Working Group. Pilots are only a small segment of the working population: we therefore can only rely on the quality of our protection, rather than quantity. This means: carefully choosing alliances with unions, to complement their authority with BeCA's expertise; build internationally recognised expertise to punch above our weight; and maintain good working relations with stakeholders in our domain ( NCA's, EASA, ...) if we want to weigh in on decisions, we'll need to play it smart, not hard. I initially joined BeCA when the pilot pension got terminated in 2011. Since then, I have remained a member to support the long-term goals of the professional organisation. I pay for BeCA's services today, so the mitigation knowledge is there when a problem pops up tomorrow. As pilots, we prepare our flights according the "plan for the worst, and hope for the best" principle - then why not do the same for your career ?

📢 Introducing Our Team: The people behind BeCA Welcome everyone! It’s Meet the Team Monday! 👨✈️👩✈️ We’re excited to introduce you to the talented Pilots who make up our team at BeCA This week, we’d like to introduce you to CPT Christiaan van Coolwijk: My name is Christiaan van Coolwijk and I started flying at the age of 16 after a career taking me from the USA to Hong Kong I joined then ACE Freighters now Challenge Airlines Be as a direct entry captain on the B747. Over the last years I worked as a simple line captain just flying the queen of the skies and enjoying my time to the fullest, as nobody knew how much longer the 747 would be around (pre covid). As I am writing this the hours on the Queen and the A330 are almost equally divided but the B747 is still my favorite aircraft to fly among all the aircraft that I have flown B190, E120, E170, B738, A330, JS31/32) I became a pilot representative in 2022 for the pilots of Challenge Airlines and being completely new to this expanded field (which consisted from compiling the complaints to operational issues to our management. As Belgian labor law is slightly different than the Dutch labor law I joined ACV Pulse for some guidance on this subject. As I was slowly getting my head around all the smaller and bigger differences between Belgium and Holland a new Challenge rose on the horizon. Being a Belgian daughter company of an Israeli group gave meaning to our slogan “Challenge accepted” as we continued flying into and out of our existing network destinations. I am happy to say that together with our management we came to a working solution to keep the flights on a voluntarily basis. This operation however had us dealing with GPS spoofing and being a BeCA committee member gave me access to information to a lot of data from other operations experiencing GPS spoofing helping me to inform our pilots about this new phenomena. The current level of GPS spoofing definitely raised the question about reliability of GPS and RNAV approaches in the years to come and the role systems like EGNOS could help us mitigate these problems.#BeCA #belgianpilot

📢 Introducing Our Team: The people behind BeCA Welcome everyone! It's Meet the Team Monday! 👨✈️👩✈️ We're excited to introduce you to the talented Pilots who make up our team at BeCA This week, we'd like to introduce you to FO Yannick Honnoré: Hi all, My name is Yannick Honnoré, I am 25 years old and since September 2018 I’m flying for a Belgian cargo company, as a first Officer. I started my commercial flying career on the B737 and since 1.5 years now, I fly the majestic B747. The reason why I joined BeCA was initially to follow in the footsteps of my father but after a while I noticed what the association really stands for: being a association for pilots, by pilots. Because let’s admit it, who knows best what a pilot really needs than a pilot himself-/herself? And rest assured, there are multiple projects that BeCA is working on, although often on the background. Therefore I want to contribute to this cause, to keep the beautiful job as a pilot as beautiful as possible. The job with its flexible hours, technical issues etc is already difficult enough that pilots shouldn’t constantly be fighting themselves to keep acceptable, and especially safe, working-conditions. As one of my most-used sentences is: « Communicaton is key » so it’s quite self-explanantory that I specifically joined the BeCA-communication team. So in the near future you will probably hear from my colleagues and I about some projects the association is working on. I also strongly believe that every opinion is important, coming from pilots close to their retirement as also the ones just starting their career, I do think that it can be beneficial to also have new younger (active) members in the association so that everybody can find someone to relate to and that we can approach the issues from different perspectives. #BeCA #belgianpilot

FTEJerez Partners with Norwegian to Secure Future Pilot Workforce. FTEJerez is proud to announce a new collaboration with Norwegian to help secure a skilled workforce for the Scandinavian airline. As the only partner school in Spain, FTEJerez offers cadets a unique opportunity to join Norwegian upon completing their training, providing a new pathway into the aviation industry through FTE’s Career Department. “We are thrilled to partner with Norwegian once again on this important initiative. This collaboration offers our cadets an incredible opportunity to secure employment with one of the industry’s leading airlines. At FTEJerez, we are committed to training the next generation of aviation professionals, and this partnership is a significant step in ensuring that our students have the best opportunities to join the industry as first officers,” says Oscar Sordo, CEO at FTEJerez. Guro Poulsen, People Director at Norwegian, adds, “This is a great way for us to attract pilots. With this new agreement, we have the opportunity to get to know the cadets during their education. This also allows those who are hired by Norwegian to start working immediately while receiving Type Rating courses for the aircraft the company operates, as well as other necessary theory and advanced training courses.” FTE’s collaboration with Norwegian began in April 2016, when the school entered into a strategic partnership to assess and recruit its students and graduates for roles as First Officers with Norwegian. This initiative led to the selection of graduates and cadets, who were offered positions with Norwegian Airlines. Building on this success, the collaboration was further strengthened in 2017 with the launch of the Mentored Cadet Pilot Programme, designed to provide a continuous pipeline of well-trained pilots for Norwegian. This new agreement represents an exciting next step in the partnership between FTEJerez and Norwegian, reinforcing the school’s commitment to providing cadets with the skills and opportunities required to succeed in the aviation industry. #advancedtraining #aviationcareers #aviationeducation #aviationindustry #aviationprofessionals #cadetemployment #cadets #CareerDepartment #collaboration #FirstOfficers #ftejerez #GuroPoulsen #MentoredCadetPilotProgramme #Norwegian #NorwegianAirlines #oscarsordo #pilotopportunities #pilottraining #recruitment #Scandinavianairline #skilledworkforce #strategicpartnership #TypeRating
