Peacenic Ypsilanti-Ypsilanti TWP: Next Steps Toward Lasting Change
At Peacenic, we are dedicated to creating meaningful, sustainable change in our community. With every event, every connection, and every initiative, we move closer to our vision of peace, unity, and empowerment for the Ypsilanti-Ypsilanti TWP area. Here’s a look at our next steps and how we’re making a difference:
1. Engaging Law Enforcement and Community
We are actively collaborating with new leaders like Sheriff Alysia Dyer (Washtenaw County) to foster stronger connections between law enforcement and the community. Through programs like Neighborhood Association Training, we aim to build trust and ensure safety in our neighborhoods.
2. Focus on Youth and Mentorship
Peacenic’s upcoming events will expand youth engagement programs, including sports activities like basketball and football tournaments. We’re also launching new initiatives to mentor youth through partnerships with local schools, Eastern Michigan University, and community organizations.
3. Expanding Support for Parolees
We are strengthening our support for parolees by collaborating with the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) and local agencies to provide them with mentorship, job training, and reintegration services. Our goal is to create pathways for parolees to become empowered and contributing members of the community.
4. Introducing Community Roundtables
Beginning in January 2025, we will introduce Community Roundtables to bring together residents, community leaders, and service providers to address key issues such as supporting paroles and providing resources for women on government assistance. These roundtables will be held in partnership with Washtenaw Community College and other local organizations.
5. Securing Safety through Innovative Solutions
We are in the process of launching a neighborhood security initiative that includes providing seniors and low-income residents with alarm systems. Additionally, we are planning community-based mobile surveillance programs, engaging local volunteers to monitor and protect high-crime areas.
6. Volunteer Expansion
We are building new volunteer networks by engaging higher-end Black professionals, community organizations, and young law enforcement officers. By diversifying and growing our volunteer base, we ensure continued support for our initiatives and events.
7. Preparing for Peacenic June 2025
Planning is well underway for our major event on June 7, 2025. We’re reaching out to potential partners, including notable figures such as Mitch Albom and Matthew Stafford, to support and participate in this exciting community event.
Together, we are building a future where peace is more than a goal—it’s a reality. As always, our motto stands: “If it is to be… Then it is up to me!”
Join us as we continue to make a difference!
