To make an omelette, you need to break a few eggs. Here are some of the shells we've left on the kitchen floor over the last 3 years: 1. Yas's boat-themed carousel for a sales role involving heavy word play with 'sails' 6. Hiring a sky banner to fly over Taylor Swift's Wembley Eras Tour show 7. Crafting a 6ft sand sculpture of a Head of Sales on the local beach 8. Shaving the job advert into the fleece of 28 alpacas 9. Build bridges and tear down walls to get the job you want. I worked with a job seeker this week who made the common mistake that builds walls in job searching: trying to tell everything about what they can do. Don't do it. Tell recruiters only about the skills you have that apply to the job you are applying for now. You want them to think about what jobs besides job X where they could place you. Don't Most everybody can and has done different things. Great! But today you are applying for a Project Mngr, Graphic Artist, Senior Sales Rep, etc. One person for one job. If you want to grow out of what you are doing into something else then apply to companies that have both. You can apply with different recruiters to different jobs. but keep it single with each one. That way they think you are focused and intentional on the job they are talking to you about. This is how you build bridges to your next job and don't build a wall of TMI (tooooo much information).
