My journey through the Dusit International Certification evidently stands as a significant milestone in my professional career. I love this quote from Chris Bagnall in the LinkedIn B2B Marketing Benchmark report about the importance of aligning DEIB efforts with corporate goals: "It’s this failure to align DEI with corporate goals that has, in part, led to it fading into the background, relegated to little more than a token role for recruitment teams. I'm excited to be amongst the participants to be trained and certified under the Strategies for Success (S4S) program championed by A.P. Moller - Maersk . Previously, I didn’t take mentoring and coaching seriously but last year I had the privilege to participate in two (2) separate eye opening / inspiring sessions, and I can now say confidently that Mentoring & Coaching are very essential. The capacity packed program was made up of modules, peer learnings, group discussions, and panel sessions. A summary of the modules are- knowing yourself, self-belief and resilience, personal impact, sponsorship and allyship (stakeholder mapping). As a result of the program, I've learnt to reinvent myself and be visible. I can’t count how many times that was said but I struggled initially with becoming visible. "How can I be visible without people seeing it as eye service or busybody in Nigerian language?" I thought, but we were made to understand that visibility comes from a place of adding value. I also learnt to build a growth mindset, meaningful relationships and trust. We were also encouraged to ensure proximity with our stakeholders. The Strategies for Success (S4S) program is specifically designed to target female talents and provide the skills, tools, and techniques to help maximize the potentials of an underrepresented talent pool. It also aims to bring women together to create opportunities to grow, network, inspire and ‘be inspired.' It feels good to be an Alumni of the Prestigious Strategies for Success program. My sincere appreciation to Uzoma Ben-Ude A big thank you to our program facilitator SONIA BATE, she was awesome all through the session. There was never a dull moment with her and thank you to our coaches Bethan Hughes and Rashi Dhensa-Khalon for sharing from their wealth of experience. I hope we keep this in mind "the world around is changing at an ever-increasing pace, so I/we need to learn to adjust and adapt to the changes as well as focus on the bigger picture (our goals)." Today, we had the pleasure of hosting a group of school leaders from the National Institute of Education, Singapore as part of their 'Leaders in Education Program'. The focus of this session was on bridging the gap between teaching and the corporate world, a crucial topic in today’s rapidly evolving job market. A few takeaways I took from this engaging session: 💡 Strong and collaborative relationships with educational institutions are still key to boosting companies' employer branding and attracting qualified talent 💡 Purpose plays an increasingly central role, whether it's in the early stages of schooling or in the way companies attract and retain talent 💡 Lifelong learning initiatives and professional development programs are essential for preparing students and employees to adapt to new challenges and technologies 💡 By fostering strong industry-education links, we can prepare future leaders who are well-equipped to drive innovation and growth in their respective fields I thoroughly enjoyed this session and the opportunity to learn more about Singapore's educational system so that our talent attraction efforts continue to reflect EDP’s global positioning 🙌 A huge thank you to the NIE leaders for their valuable insights and active participation.
