How to fix the hardest part of the job hunt. Translating your experience to a hiring manager so you get hired. Translating what you do now in to terms that make sense to a hiring manager in tech sales is a huge challenge for most people trying to break in. The real problem is you don’t know exactly what experience is most valuable to a hiring manager in tech sales. What everyone says is you don’t have sales experience. But, how is it then, that people every year with no experience break in and go on to perform extremely well in year 1 and beyond? Sales experience (or the profession of strategic sales) is nothing more than a conglomerate of other skills, when put together, make up someone who is really good at strategic sales. So if the profession of strategic sales is a conglomerate of other skills - what are those other skills? I’ll give you an example. Communication skills. Decision making skills. Leadership skills. Forecasting skills. Teaching skills. Negotitation skills. Getting customers to agree to have you solve their problems and paying you for it. When you put all these together you have the ingredients of what most successful sales people are made of (I’m sure I’m missing some things). ————- In summary: Break it down to basic skills. Come up with a plan to develop the skills you lack Or!!! Compensate for them by leveraging the high value of your other skills. #InTheArena #ClosedWon

False promises are one of the main reasons your sales hires leave within the first year ☠️ ❌ Unrealistic quotas ❌ Misrepresented territories ❌ Exaggerated earning potentials ❌ A different role you've actually applied for Do you want to create a company where people are happy and stay loyal to you as an employer? 👉 set realistic expectations to build a culture where both employers and sales professionals can thrive. #Salesrecruitment #techsales #mishires #hiring #recruitment #sales

Breaking into Tech Sales or Looking for a New Role? Here are a few tips that helped me land at two B2B SaaS companies in LA: 1️⃣ ACTIVITY = PIPELINE Treat your job search like you’re at 20% of quota, and it’s the last week of the quarter. Hit the phones (LinkedIn) and emails like a madman. High activity drives results. 2️⃣ PERSONALIZATION = ENGAGEMENT You’ve probably heard this a million times, but it works when you DO IT RIGHT. The secret lies in personalizing the message to the person, not the company. We all like to feel special. Do a bit of research, and watch your response rates skyrocket 🚀 3️⃣ TRAITS = IMPACT We all started with zero experience so don't put so much stress on that. There have been so many times in your life where you have had to sell. Focus on those moments AND the personal traits that helped you win the sale. Highlight 2-3 transferable skills that you feel strong in and explain how they will impact X, Y, Z at the company. These are just a few things that I have gained from personal experience and more importantly have learned from others! What other things helped you break into sales when you had ZERO experience? #techsales #salesjobs #entrylevelsales #careeradvice #salescareers #jobsearchtips #salesstrategy #youngprofessionals #collegegraduates #salesmotivation #careerdevelopment #saleslife #firstjob #breakingintosales #jobhunt #careertips #b2bsales #graduates #salesgoals #newjob

💡 The Sales Hiring Conundrum: Experience vs. Trainability 💡 There's a constant debate in the sales hiring world: industry experience vs a clean slate. Building a high-performing sales team is no easy feat. One of the biggest challenges companies face is deciding how to weigh experience against the potential of fresh talent. I've experienced a varied approach, from companies who prioritise reps who know the industry inside-out, to those who prefer to mold new talent from the ground up. Industry Experience: 🔹 Pros: Hits the ground running, understands customer pain points, potentially has an existing network. 🔹 Cons: May be set in their ways, potentially, May struggle to adapt to new company sales methodologies or culture. Fresh Talent: 🔹 Pros: Eager to learn, no bad habits, potentially a fresh perspective on your sales approach. 🔹 Cons: Steeper learning curve, may take longer to become productive, might lack industry-specific knowledge. The truth? There's no one-size-fits-all answer! It really depends on your specific needs, company culture, and the role itself. What are your experiences on both sides of the table? Have you seen success with industry veterans or fresh faces? Let's hear your thoughts in the comments! #SalesHiring #ExperienceDebate #BuildingTheDreamTeam

3 things nearly ALL sales candidates want when searching for a new role 👇 𝟭. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹🤑 Sales people aren't in it for a laugh. They want to earn money. Make sure your commission structure is strong. 𝟮. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻📈 The best sales people want to know that there is a clear career path for them, and that they'll be supported from a training and development point of view. 𝟯. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 💻 Sales people need to be passionate about a product or see huge value in it. Without this, it's very easy to become demotivated or uninterested. There are many more than this, but these are the 3 that come up in conversations the most. What else would you add? #recruitment #recruiter #recruiters #recruiting #hiring #sales #saassales #saas #salespeople #sell #selling
