One of my favorite ways to stay fit during the Summer is through golf. Playing golf has significantly influenced my approach to work-life balance in several ways: 🌿 Mindfulness and Focus: Golf teaches the importance of being present in the moment. This mindfulness practice helps me stay focused on tasks at work, ensuring I give my best effort to each project without getting overwhelmed by multitasking or distractions. 🌸 Patience and Persistence: Golf requires patience and persistence, whether you’re perfecting your swing or strategizing for a hole. In the workplace, this translates to staying dedicated to long-term goals and not getting discouraged by setbacks. 🌞 Stress Management: Spending time outdoors on the golf course provides a natural way to relieve stress and clear the mind. This helps me maintain a calm and composed demeanor even during high-pressure situations at work, preventing burnout and promoting overall well-being. 🌺 Balance and Recovery: Golf emphasizes the importance of balance, both physically and mentally. This practice has taught me to prioritize work-life harmony, ensuring that I take time for rest, relaxation, and self-care. Do you ever feel like you never have time for yourself? Here’s a simple practice that can help you improve your work/life balance. Block out time on your calendar for the things that are important to you outside of work FIRST and make them non-negotiable. For me, that looks like yoga & pilates classes 5x per week, uninterrupted 1 hour lunch breaks, 8 hours of sleep, time with loved ones, time to read, etc. I have recurring appointments on the calendar every week for these non-negotiables and I plan everything else around them. And simply by doing this, I gave myself permission to prioritize my needs, fill my own cup, be present for myself and the people that are most important to me in my life before I pour myself out to work. Imagine how different your life would be in a year if you start to treat your personal time aka meetings with the CEO of your life (YOU) with the same level of importance as your meetings with the CEO of your company?
