We’re tired of leaders underestimating the political power of moms. So today, we’re launching our biggest campaign yet to ensure they can’t ignore us and the issues that matter to us this election season. It’s time to #GetChildCareontheRecord! There are 3 simple, but powerful actions you can take: 🙋♀️ Attend a Local Event ✍️ Write a Letter to the Editor 📢 Get Loud on Social Media We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get affordable child care passed in the U.S. But to seize this moment, we need candidates up and down the ballot to be loudly championing child care during election season. Because if they aren’t saying it now, they sure as hell won’t do anything about it when they are in office. Imagine if moms across the country flooded our local papers with letters to the editors, gathered in town halls, and got loud on social media. All coming together to make it clear to our leaders that they must prioritize affordable child care and the issues that matter to moms.    That's what this campaign is about. The #BigLie: Expressive Responding and Misperceptions in the #UnitedStates - PDF: https://lnkd.in/gB8th4Au #Misinformation about events surrounding the #2020election and the #COVID19 pandemic pose an existential threat to American democracy and public health. Public opinion surveys reveal that high percentages of Republicans indicate that they endorse some aspects of mistaken beliefs surrounding election fraud in the 2020 election. Still, understanding how to measure the endorsement of misperceptions is critical for understanding the threat at hand. Are high levels of mistaken beliefs genuinely held, or are they partially a function of expressive responding? I address this question through a set of survey experiments encouraging accuracy-oriented processing among the general public. Using well-powered surveys of Republicans and Independents, I find that treatments designed to encourage more accurate responses are ineffective in reducing the endorsement of partisan electoral and public health misperceptions and can in some cases even backfire. Happy National Public Health Week! One group in public health that supports civic engagement is Community Health Workers (CHWs). And an issue impacting CHWs that could be changed by civic engagement is CHW certification. You may have noticed that I took CHW off my profile. That’s because I was certified in a state with a state-operated program and then moved to a state without a program, meaning I could not transfer my certification, even though I continue to work on a significant public health issue: domestic abuse. And it turns out there is not yet a national certification program for CHWs, plus about half of all U.S. states don’t have a certification program. Should CHWs even have to be certified?
