Facing Race, organized biennially by Race Forward, aims to empower individuals and organizations to effectively address and dismantle systemic racism, fostering a more equitable and just society. Beneficial State Foundation was proudly represented at Facing Race by Angelique Cooper, D. Priscila Villanueva, Erin Kilmer Neel, and Francis Janes. In this moment, when there are strong headwinds against efforts to build a more financially inclusive world, our team remains committed to sharing best practices and helping all financial institutions make progress on serving historically under-resourced and marginalized communities—especially communities of color. #FacingRace #RaceForward #EconomicJustice #FinancialJustice

What does privilege look like? 💭 Understanding and admitting to your own privilege can help you understand and empathise with those who don't have the same privilege. In turn this can help you take action to support those who face barriers, discrimination and a lack of representation every day. ➡️ To access free resources to help your organisation tackle race inequality register to join the REM network: https://lnkd.in/dvGtZNm #ActionNotJustWords #RaceEqualityMatters #ItsEveryonesBusiness #ActionDrivesChange Thank you to Green Parkand Lloyd's for their continued support

In case you're not too clear what's actually meant by the term 'white privilege' this is a useful checklist. It's important to understand that this describes the advantages or sometimes simply lack of disadvantages of being perceived as having white skin. It does not mean that the same person might not experience other disadvantages eg because of a disability, class or sexual orientation (just naming a few - many more could be added), it simply means that their skin colour doesn't trigger any discrimination or disadvantage. And in our white supremacy culture this weighs a lot! #whiteprivilege #whitesupremacy

The biggest challenge (I believe) around white privilege, is that those who have it, don't even know that they do. Then you have those who find out about it, and it makes them feel uncomfortable and they need to challenge it, becoming defensive. Some accept it. Some find it SO ITCHY that they need to look into it, and help shout it out to the world, so I challenge you to read the post below and call it out. How many of those statements ring true to you? What are you going to do about it? You don't need to take on the world, but please, at least take on yourself, how do those statements make you feel? Digest, reflect, and if they make you at all itchy, call it out, shout it out, share this post, spread the word.

Systemic inequality persists through calculated efforts. The architecture of injustice in our society isn't accidental. It's a deliberate construct, built and maintained over generations. This reality underscores the critical need for intentional, sustained efforts to dismantle these systems. Recognizing this truth is the first step toward meaningful change. Danielle P.'s journey from activist to public defender exemplifies this understanding, showing how direct action can challenge ingrained perceptions and fight for justice on the front lines. 🎧 Tune in to this episode of The Last Mile Radio, dropping this Saturday, August 17 #TheLastMile #TheLastMileRadio #DaniellePonder #SystemicInequality #CriminalJusticeReform #ActivismMatters #IntentionalChange #PublicDefense #HumanityOverLabels #SocialJustice #RedliningLegacy #WarOnDrugsImpact #LegalActivism #DisruptTheSystem #EqualityNow #CommunityAdvocacy #BlackHistory #RebelWithACause #PowerOfRepresentation #UndoingInjustice
