For today's APRIL CHANGES for BUSINESS OWNERS... Flexible Working Requests to be a DAY ONE RIGHT Flexible Working Requests can include requests for: 1 - a reduction or variation of working hours; 2 - a reduction or variation of the days or times worked; and/or 3 - working from a different location (for example, from home). Previously an Employee needed to be working for an Employer for 26 weeks (6 months) before being entitled to make a Flexible Working Request. BUT from 6 April 2024; this will be a DAY ONE RIGHT and so any Employee, regardless of their length of service, can make a Flexible Working Request. Now, this does mean that the Employer HAS to agree with the Request BUT they must consider the Request fairly and only turn down the Request if there's a VALID BUSINESS REASON to do so. This change may require some updates to your internal Policies and Staff Handbook, especially if you have a Flexible Working Policy....if this is something you want to discuss, let's have a chat! #BusinessOwner #FlexibleWorking #DayOneRight
