History Knows Who Is Right and Who Is Wrong Arrested Student Demonstrators: NE Univ.—Boston—100; Indiana Univ.—23; Arizona State—69; Wash Univ.—St. Louis—80’ Columbia—NYC—100s. It appears that those who don’t know their history are doomed to repeat it. Columbia University’s administrators summoned the police to disrupt pro-Palestinian demonstrators occupying their campus and protesting the Gazan war. Across the nation, the Univ. of Texas, Southern California Univ., Harvard, and Brown Univ. witness American students pitching tents and protesting the Israeli army’s systematic slaughter of Gazans. These nationwide demonstrators challenge the administrators’ claims that anti-war demonstrators subject Jewish students to racial slurs and antisemitism, the frequent label put on Israel’s critics. But these demonstrators protest murder, starvation, and ethnic cleansing in Gaza by the Israeli government and army. These administrators should visit history wherein Vietnam War demonstrations overran college campuses fifty years ago, prompting administrators to summon the police, sheriff’s deputies, and the National Guard. When the Vietnam anti-war demonstrations spiraled into confrontations with college administrators, the administrators summoned an armed National Guard whose soldiers shot and killed four students and wounded nine on the Kent State campus in Ohio. History tells us that those who do not know history will repeat it. Given history’s voice, the present-day administrators will create more danger than the demonstrators. You are the judge.

Escalating University Campus Protests Over Israel-Hamas Conflict Recent protests have erupted across prestigious American universities, including Columbia, Yale, and Harvard, as students demand institutional divestment from companies engaged with Israel and condemn Israel's actions against Palestinians in Gaza. The protests have set up encampments and caused substantial operational disruptions, leading to traffic obstructions, road closures, and more direct interruptions to campus activities. The university administrations have adopted varying responses: Harvard and Yale have tightened security, suspending student groups perceived as exacerbating the dissent, whereas Columbia has invoked a more stringent approach by involving the City of New York Police Department (NYPD) to disband protests, resulting in over a hundred student arrests. The campus community's reaction is polarized. Some faculty members uphold the students' right to protest and free speech, while others express concerns about the protests undermining academic integrity and safety. The student body is similarly divided, with some participants feeling threatened, particularly Jewish students, and others actively engaging in or supporting the protests. These demonstrations are not just localized events but are part of a broader solidarity movement, potentially expanding to other institutions and thereby magnifying their impact. This shift challenges the traditional view of universities as neutral educational grounds, repositioning them as active political arenas. Social media plays a critical role in driving these narratives and fostering solidarity across campuses. The potential overflow of these protests into neighboring areas could disrupt public transportation and necessitate alternative travel arrangements. Such widespread protests could strain local emergency services and create a general unease within communities, as demonstrated by the events at Columbia University. This situation exemplifies how global conflicts can influence daily life far from their origin, highlighting the necessity for strategic analysis and preparedness. At WoRisGo, we specialize in offering in-depth analysis and strategic guidance to help businesses and individuals navigate the complexities of such widespread protests and their ramifications on routine operations. This is a great article from NPR comparing the University protests and demonstrations from 1968 by SDS and the current protests 2024 starting with Columbia. The activity didn’t just pop out of nowhere. Demonstrations typically take place due to current events, historical anniversaries, elections and world events. Then groups find topics that they can use in order to bring protest against X idea. The universities having financial or otherwise ties to Israel, in this case. Apply pressure and see what intended result occurs. When I started to see the protest and demonstration activity happening currently, it brought back memories of SDS, not that I was there but some time in the past in my career, worked heavily in the arena of threat intelligence pertaining to domestic terrorism, extremist and anarchist activity. Certainly not saying that’s the case here, but history shows that while you can have meaningful individuals looking for peaceful alternatives, there are always those in the shadows looking for more. In many scenarios of many demonstrations over the years, university groups like SDS become the igniter for other groups and actions to take place in solidarity. #civildisobedience #demonstration #propalestine #university #protests #students
