Cracking open Four Peak’s brews just got cooler and greener as they use QR codes to turn every consumer into a recycling pro. Established in 1996, Four Peaks Brewing , an Arizona-based craft brewery, has announced a trailblazing collaboration with CIRT (Can I Recycle This) Inc. to empower consumer recycling efforts after sipping delicious beers. The brewery is known for its award-winning Kilt Lifter and Wow Wheat beers, quenching thirsts throughout the Southwest and selling nearly 21 million cans. That’s a lot of beer and potential recycling impact! On the other hand, CIRT, an esteemed female-founded company, is a globally recognized B Corporation driven to build data and software tools that help businesses make their products and packaging materials more sustainable. Through CIRT’s location-based recycling information technology, Four Peaks has advocated a cool way to recycle its beer cans, streamlined by integrating QR code technology into its strategy. By scanning conveniently placed QR codes on any product, consumers gain access to CIRT’s website, “CIRT.Check,” which tells them what to do with the empty beer cans, depending on their location. And their clever tagline above the QR code, ”PLEASE RECYCLE–IT’D BE A LOT COOLER IF YOU DID,” has prompted consumers to engage in a playful and lighthearted manner. This collaboration signifies a positive step towards a more sustainable future—no more confusion about what goes where or if the beer bottle belongs in the blue bin. With CIRT’s ingenious technology and database, Four Peaks has the capacity to: • Provide location-specific recycling information to more than 21 million people • Divert 3.5 million pounds of packaging from landfills, and • Offset more than 5.2 million pounds of CO2 equivalent emissions. The brewing company demonstrates a commitment to impact Earth one beer can at a time, resonating with a growing segment of consumers who prioritize eco practices and support the fight against packaging waste. With Four Peaks Co. leading the pack, the brewing economy is now taking a step towards actively shaping a greener future with like-minded organizations. And their achievement is evidence of what’s possible for you, too. “The more information we can give to our consumers to inform them how to recycle the material out there, we’re going to make a big impact on the environment,” said Trevor Needle, the marketing director at Four Peaks Brewing Co. And that’s a fact. By integrating a sustainable technology like QR TIGER - QR Code Generator , all information is accessible at every consumer’s fingertips. Plus, your products can help shape an eco-friendly future. Here’s a toast to a tasty and sustainable beer can! We’d love to hear your thoughts on this exciting collaboration! Feel free to drop them in the comments below. #QRTIGER #QRCodes https://lnkd.in/g2mbV4a7

Drake’s Brewing Company, one of the nation’s leading craft brewers, was on a mission to reduce their carbon footprint and enhance their sustainability efforts. During a consultation with RRD, they discovered that although their packaging was recyclable, it was made from virgin fiber instead of recycled board. Determined to make a positive change, Drake’s sought RRD’s expertise to transition their 6-, 12-, and 15-pack carrier packaging to recycled, responsibly sourced materials. With RRD's innovative packaging solutions, they found the perfect balance between eco-friendly practices and high-quality packaging. I absolutely love fabulous examples of how people respond when some location discontinues #recycling (usually of #glass) for dubious reasons! Here, when the local municipality discontinued glass recycling, a couple of residents took matters into their own hands. The couple in this 👇 article decided to figure out how not to landfill glass. Their solution? Make root beer. Then reuse all kinds of different bottles to package it! Reusing glass is one of the lowest-CO2 impact ways to package something anyway--and better than recycling. What an awesome, affirmative step to both send a message (people want to recycle glass--and practically everything else for that matter) and then do something about the municipality's misguided decision! #sustainability #chooseglass #circulareconomy https://lnkd.in/e_s4RWrW

Really interesting initiative but so confusing for Pizza Hut consumers. Here in the US even with grease, and lets face it a good pizza always comes with grease) the directive here suggests its still recyclable. We do wonder how many boxes actually do play a part in the current recyclate though? In other regions the stipulation is the box needs to be clean and free of residues and grease, which is mighty difficult in most take away situations.

Brewing a sustainable future: How automation can reduce your brewery's environmental impact. Though the craft beer industry has grown immensely over the past decade, its success is coupled with significant challenges, particularly with regards to skyrocketing energy costs and growing ESG responsibilities. Water usage, energy consumption, and waste generation are all areas where breweries can strive for greater sustainability. The good news is — innovative and automated brewing technology is helping breweries work towards a more sustainable future. How? Automation is revolutionising the brewing process by taking the guesswork out of it. These systems constantly monitor and optimise brewing parameters, leading to a significant decrease in energy consumption. This translates to a smaller carbon footprint and lower utility bills for breweries. For example, Frigid.Cloud's pulse chilling optimises heat transfer and improves the efficiency of compressor operation in glycol chillers, and ultimately reduces energy usage. Solar thermal storage, on the other hand, harnesses renewable energy by integrating solar panels to store energy in the thermal mass of fermenters and glycol holding tanks, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. Smiley Brewing in Melbourne is the perfect example of the impact that automation can have. By implementing Frigid.Cloud's pulse cooling module, they've slashed their daily energy consumption by 30 kWh. This translates to an annual reduction of 5.5 tons of carbon emissions–that's roughly equivalent to taking an average passenger car off the road for a year . Between October and November, their electricity consumption decreased by an average of 30.1 kilowatts, dropping down to 85.2 kilowatts between February and March. This reduction in power usage translates to an estimated monthly cost saving of around $340. As the craft beer industry continues to navigate an ever-changing landscape, automation and sustainable brewing practices will undoubtedly play a key role in ensuring a brighter future for both brewers and our planet.

STRAIGHT TALKIN' HOSPITALITY RECRUITMENT | TRAINING | CONSULTANCY FOR GROWING, PEOPLE OBSESSED HOSPITALITY OPERATORS | The Sunday Times Best Places to Work 2024 |
🌍 ♻️ 🍺 2024 has been all about drinking guilt-free (well, at least when it comes to the planet) 🌍 ♻️ 🍺 Sustainability is the word on everyone’s lips in the UK brewery world, and let’s be honest—beer has never tasted so eco-friendly, with breweries going all out to save the world one pint at a time. And who’s leading the charge? BrewDog, a beer industry big dog, has been carbon negative since 2020…because being just carbon neutral is sooooo pre pandemic. But these guys aint restin’ on their hops. They teamed up with Toast Brewing; the eco-geniuses who turn surplus bread into beer, as part of their mission to reduce food waste. It’s beer...but with a conscience. Oh, and BrewDog are also continuing their Lost Forest project because planting a few million trees is just something they do on the side. Meanwhile, another brewery at the forefront of sustainability is Camden Town Brewery, which is making waves with its fully recyclable "Hells in a Can" packaging and their use of renewable energy to power their brewing facilities. They’re also working on reducing water waste, a huge issue in the brewing process, by adopting innovative water recycling methods. Smaller breweries are also stepping up; take a bow Purity Brewing Co,who have implemented a zero-waste approach, repurposing grain and hops as animal feed and fertilizer. Let us not forget loud and proud Stroud Brewery - a certified B Corporation, focuses on using organic ingredients and limiting their carbon footprint through energy efficiency initiatives. It's truly incredible to see. I've never felt more pleased to be a beer drinker and can’t wait to see the changes and impact the beer industry continue to make in 2025!!
