Revenue @ Sendspark - On a campaign to get Americans to say football instead of soccer!

Lets talk about influencer marketing and my honest thoughts! Seeing some troubling trends on this platform recently! Influencer marketing works, but only if the influencer uses your tool and the content is wholly organic! Im talking workflows, creative use cases, real tactical content! Its why Clay does it well! But heres where it gets dark! We recently had a competitor pop up in Europe! Direct rip off our marketing collateral and product! Not going to call them out by name, but its become obvious that they are paying people to post about their tool! The creators that are taking money to post about a product that has been proven to be in use of better term "sketchy", are diminishing their brands, and losing credibility! These are people that are willing to take money from anyone! If you are a creator with a following you owe it to your audience to promote good technology! Influencer marketing only works if you provide value to your audience! Be smart about who you align with! #marketing #influencermarketing

As far as I know, Clay doesn't pay anyone. They might pay a few people who make videos for their youtube, but none of the creators get paid. We get affiliate links we can use, 20% in the first year is nothing to scoff at. But most of the people who rep clay do it because they like it. I just like talking about it because it's so interesting. Most people dont have a product that is interesting to talk about. Sendspark definitely has some interesting nuances and use cases that could be discussed. I wonder how saas companies are using their already paying customers to market? Do they go through all their signups and find people with a lot of linkedin followers who actively post?

This is so so true man, one bad partnership as a creator can totally destroy your brand. It is why I am VERY very picky.

True words. I declined pretty much every request so far. Exactly, for the reason you mentioned. If it is not genuine then there is a risk that it reflects negatively on the main business. And we all know the word can spread fast in the SaaS tech bubble.

It's cool to see Clay keeping it real with organic content.

It's definitely on the rise, and there's definitely a correct way to do it - both for brands and for influencers. I also definitely have a list of influencers I won't work with because of how they've handled their brand deals in the past.

Tbh, most of the influencers you see on here are not real advocates for the brands they represent. Just the other day the biggest sales leader on this platform called out a product that is not great and has a brand identify issue. I laughed out loud when I read the post. I’ve been in negotiations with multiple leaders who are extremely big on here and they’ve decided to go with our competitors because they were getting paid monthly and not held to revenue generated. The truth is, SalesIntel is bootstrapped and we’ve done it authentically over 7 years. I will turn every influencer away until I find leaders who care more about their impact than their wallet. You should only represent companies whose products you love. If you love a product and it’s help you grow, you’ll naturally want to share it with their network. And yes, you should get paid for the referrals that come in… but the bigger impact is that you are actually helping the people in your network find a better alternative to what they are currently using. Some of the loudest people on this platform are the sketchiest, in my opinion. We are rolling out an influencer program and I believe it will change how these programs are put together forever.

So, there is a particular beauty brand that popped up in my FB feed a few weeks ago. It seems like nearly every beauty influencer has partnered with this specific company. I ordered one of their products after seeing it a million times. But, dealing with their customer service makes me wonder if those influencers just took the money and ran. It's not the best company... like, at all.
