I took this photo showing the top-down layout of Power Station, Step Up Transformers and Transmission Substation. Let's explore the differences between these components: 1. Gas Power Generation Purpose: Converts natural gas into electricity. Process: Burns gas to drive turbines connected to power generators. 2. Step-Up Transformers Purpose: Increases voltage levels for efficient long-distance transmission. Location: Found at power plants. Function: Reduces energy loss during transmission by boosting voltage. 3. Transmission Substation Purpose: Transfers electricity from generation sites to distribution networks. Components: Includes transformers, circuit breakers, and other switchgears equipment. Function: Steps down high-voltage electricity for distribution networks to consumers.

A power transformer is a vital component in electrical engineering that facilitates the efficient transmission and #distribution of electrical energy #across different voltage levels. Its primary function is to transfer electrical energy between #circuits through electromagnetic induction. There are some differences between power transformers and distribution transformers operating at normal levels. Usually, power transformers are utilities in electric transmission networks (that use higher voltages) for either step up or step down applications (400 kV, 200 kV, 110 kV, 66 kV, 33kV), and their capacity is higher than 200MVA. Utility distribution transformers are put to work in distribution networks to transform electricity to a level (11kV, 6.6 kV, 3.3 kV, 440V, 230V) that can be utilized by an end-user and usually are rated lower than 200MVA.

During the cable laying technique, IR value measurement is very important part of test to ensure the cable has been laid safely or not. But sometimes the test values are very tough to ensure and raise doubts on our technical parameters. Attached site photo for your reference knowledge, taken at one solar site. cable was three core, 12kV and test lead applied on one phase to earth, apllied 5000 volt. Can you please suggest what we conclude from the test result? Experiences makes perfect... #Electrical #Testing #Cable #Solar #Substation

We’ve got 5 Remote Solar Power Systems undergoing final QC and staging before they’re shipped to our customers in Central America! These systems provide clean backup power for remote installations or wellsites with inconsistent grid power! They feature a rugged solar array, industrial battery backup, integrated grid charging, and all surface electronic components of our data acquisition system! These systems are built to handle extreme environments from Canadian winters, to extremely corrosive offshore/sea side well sites. Several of these systems will be connected to multi-well pads featuring 4 separate GEOQ Quartzdyne gauge systems from 4 separate wells being run off of a single solar power unit. While the other two feature complete stainless steel construction to withstand an extremely corrosive wellsite, and will be connected to high-temp GEOTRU gauges! CEO @ ELEK.com® Software for Electrical Power Systems Design | HV Cable Systems & Earthing Design Specialist | Hiring Now Local and Remote Roles
HV Cable Ratings - Multiple Buried Cables (Unequally-loaded) Often, multiple circuits are buried inside the same trench. Due to the mutual heating effects between the cables, the current rating of the circuits will be reduced. Since this scenario has infinite arrangements, there are no general rules. However, in general, the higher the number of circuits and the closer they are spaced, the more their current ratings are reduced due to the mutual heating. For example, the figure shows four identical buried single-core trefoil circuits spaced 0.2 m from each other. Note that the isolated current rating for a single-core trefoil circuit is 540 A. For unequally loaded circuits, the cable circuits in the middle of the arrangement have a higher degree of mutual heating and, thus, a lower current rating than the outer circuits, 340 A and 410 A, respectively. The calculations were performed using ELEK Cable HV Software: https://lnkd.in/gVNfxJNX #powersystems #cables #powercables #highvoltage #electricalengineering #renewableenergy #powertransmission
