Nordic real estate investor, Nrep, has announced the construction of a six-storey timber residential building in Nordhavn (North Harbour), Copenhagen’s new sustainable harbourside city district. The 13 100m2 development will boast the lowest ever carbon emissions for a building over four floors in Denmark due to its wooden construction. Designed by Henning Larsen, the building will comprise 115 apartments and 2 commercial spaces with anticipated occupation by mid-2026. The Nordhavn development will have a total of 5kg of CO2 per sqm, well below the new strict requirement. During its lifespan, the timber construction will bind a large amount of CO2 which will be released again at the theoretical burning of the materials after 50 years. There is an emphasis on the design of the building so that it can be easily disassembled and recycled should it be demolished. The building will also be nearly self-sufficient in energy thanks to ground spikes, a heat pump, and solar panels. #construction #propertydevelopment #mixedusedevelopment #realestateinvestment #denmark #copenhagen #timberconstruction #sustainability #nordhavn #woodenconstruction #greenbuildings #carbonemissions #architecture #energyefficiency #architecturaldesign

We’re proud to be featured in Premier Construction Magazine (Issue 33-7) for our work on the Five Rivers Health & Wellbeing Centre in Salisbury, a project that’s breaking new ground in sustainable design. As the UK’s first large-scale solar car park built with sustainable glulam timber, this innovative structure combines clean energy generation with environmentally friendly construction. Featuring three gullwing canopies, 70 parking spaces, and a 220 kWp solar capacity, it’s a testament to what timber can achieve in tackling climate change. The project was even shortlisted for the Structural Timber Awards - Low Energy Project of the Year! 💡 Read more about how this landmark project is setting new standards for sustainable construction in Premier Construction Magazine: https://lnkd.in/etXgi3cu (p95-97) #BucklandTimber #SustainableDesign #GlulamTimber #PremierConstruction #LowEnergyBuilding #StructuralTimberAwards

At MODEL, our vision wouldn’t be complete without our collaborators—one of which is Dayne Davis, Associate at BG&E. We recently had a chat about his work as a building engineer designing and structurally engineering, with the BG&E team, one of our mass timber projects. Here’s what he had to say: ‘This project will be the exemplar in integrating sustainable design into urban development without compromising on quality or affordability. By challenging the conventional dependence on steel and concrete, it offers a compelling case for the efficacy and safety of mass timber at scale. This has the power to influence policy, leading to the easing of restrictions. It could also inspire further innovation and widespread adoption of sustainable building.’ With Dayne and the team at BG&E, MODEL’s goal will be achieved and the rental experience will forever be reshaped.

Hopefully, it will influence others to follow. #btr #decarbonisenow
