At SUPERBLUE Miami, visitors are transported into the world of teamLab, a collective that blends art, technology, and nature. As described by teamLab's Communications Director, Takashi Kudo, during Therme Art’s Wellbeing Culture Forum ‘Liquid Experiences – Immersive Experiences in Art, Nature and Cities, on the occasion of Berlin Gallery Weekend 2020, their installations transcend physical boundaries and explore the relationship between the self and the world. teamLab installations at Superblue Miami include: “Massless Clouds Between Sculpture and Life”: This floating white sculpture symbolises life's delicate balance. While it mirrors life's tenacity and vulnerability, it also challenges our perceptions of form and gravity. If damaged beyond repair, it fades away, emphasising the fragile nature of existence. “Flowers and People, Cannot be Controlled but Live Together – Transcending Boundaries, A Whole Year per Hour”: Within the span of an hour, viewers observe the life cycle of flowers as they blossom, scatter, and fade. The artwork constantly changes, shaped by the interactions of its observers, ensuring that each moment is transient and irreplaceable. “Universe of Water Particles, Transcending Boundaries”: This artwork presents a digital waterfall, where the trajectory of every droplet is calculated in real-time. As viewers interact with the piece, they can influence its flow, which in turn affects other interconnected artworks in the space. “Proliferating Immense Life, A Whole Year per Year”: The flowers change throughout the seasons with the flow of time in the real world, repeating the cycle of life and death, growth and decay. When people touch the stems, the flowers wither and fall away. “Life Survives by the Power of Life II”: This 8K single channel monitor work renders the Japanese character of life, 生 (sei), in a 3D space to express the depth, speed, and power of the brushstroke. The work symbolises the unity of self and nature and the idea that separate existences are part of a single whole. Video courtesy: MONA productions for Therme Art

One of two current Calls For Entry: ARTINA 2024: A Point of View Washington Sculptors Group & Sandy Spring Museum Exhibit dates: September 18 – November 10, 2024 Submission Deadline: August 4, 2024 About the Exhibition: The phrase ‘a point of view’ can have multiple meanings. It can be defined as a position or perspective from which physical objects, mental concepts, issues, etc are considered or evaluated. It can also be used to refer to one’s opinion or perspective on things, their personal view of the world. In art, perspective is the process of translating the 3-dimensional world onto a 2-dimensional canvas. It is the skill of using line, mathematics, color, and any number of techniques to trick the eye into seeing through a plane into another world. In modern parlance, the initialization POV has become ubiquitous, whether in the world of gaming or social media, to reference scenes and videos from the perspective of the person looking out at the world. Borrowing this language, this exhibition asks artists to ponder the nature of perspective. Each of us has a unique lens through which we view, navigate, and react to the world. While we can never fully inhabit another’s viewpoint, as artists, we have the power to offer glimpses of our own ways of seeing the world, made manifest through our work and the discourse around it. Artists are invited to explore POV as a concept or technique for sculpting illusion, presenting your view of reality, commenting on the fallibility of perception, offering multiple viewpoints of a concept, providing a historical perspective on a topic of choice, or any other way that best presents your point of view. -- Nehemiah Dixon, III Artists are invited to submit existing or new sculptures, and site-specific installations that fit the theme. You are welcome to take the theme and explore any metaphors in nature, society, politics, etc. Go wild! But provide a point of reference for your viewer/participant. Artists are especially encouraged to engage with the museum’s history and current mission in any way they see fit, including through the digitized collection available here. All mediums are welcome, but all works must be suitable for outdoors with little to no maintenance. Juried by Nehemiah Dixon, III Entry Fee: $5 through EntryThingy https://lnkd.in/etUwJ8-k

🔮💭 It wouldn't be the beginning of the year without predictions on the art market landscape from art professionals. 💡This is a fascinating read from artnet where 5 top art advisors share their insights on potential changes and trends in 2024. Key takeaways: 1. "The entire world is in a severe crisis mode—wars, climate change, the unknown impact of A.I. In uncertain times like these, collectors are returning to solid and supposedly safe values. The tendency to focus on safe blue-chip contemporary artists will continue to increase in 2024." Thomas Stauffer 2. "It’s very much the buyer’s market and I do think it will stay like this for a bit." Karen Boyer 3. "There’s been a lot of recent mention in the pages of Artnet about this being a so-called “buyer’s market.” That opinion seems to be unrealistically optimistic... This current market deadlock will be broken when the global economy worsens and/or an actual buyer’s market appears, where sellers are forced to accept less than they imagine to be optimal." Todd Levin 4. "We believe 2024 will offer opportunities to those collectors, like many of our clients, who focus on historical and more established artists. Though investment is always a point of consideration, our clients are driven more by how art offers personal gratification rather than by possible financial returns." Mary-Kate O’Hare 5. "Given the lackluster fall auction season, my view is that we’re in fact on the road to a more robust art market in the spring of 2024, and that there will be a healthy spike in the market with savvy sellers and buyers recognizing the opportunities that can come from past slow cycles." 🎨 There's something about art that pushes boundaries, challenges norms, and dares to dream of a better world. It's an intoxicating mix of color, imagination, and spirit, that can stir, startle and inspire us. Did you know that art is not just a means of expression but also a powerful tool for social change? 🔮 Picture this: A mural on a wall that once bore the scars of violence now carries a message of peace. A sculpture, that was an eyesore, is now an emblem of unity. Art has this unique ability to turn an object of despair into a beacon of hope. 🌈 Art can shine a light on the issues that are often overlooked or ignored. It can encourage dialogue, promote understanding, and drive action. From paintings to performances, every stroke, every note, every movement can resonate with a message. A message that could be the first step towards a positive change. 🌿 Art doesn't just reflect society, it shapes it. It can be the catalyst that brings communities together, starts meaningful conversations, and promotes empathy and understanding. And the best part? 🔥 Everyone can be a part of this artistic revolution. Your canvas could be a wall, a stage, or even the screen of your smartphone. Your brush could be a paintbrush, a guitar, or your voice. All you need is the courage to take that first step, to make your mark. Because art is not just about creating beautiful things. It's about creating change, and that, dear friends, is the most beautiful thing of all. #CommunityEngagement #artforeveryone #creativepractice #artistsatwork #artisticprocess #supportthearts #artnow #socialchange #artforall #socialpractice #activistart #artforacause #artforsocialchange #artwithmeaning #artisessential #artheals #artivist #socialjusticeart #artcommunity #socialart #artspeaks #supportlivingartists #womeninthearts #artmatters

You know an idea is revolutionary when you go "WOW!" and "of course" at the same time. Simplicity is king.
'Tangible light' by belgium visual artist Joanie Lemercier. This is a piece from the works exploring 'light as a medium, space as a canvas' and leverages a #laser and a developed atomised water system for intense particle strobing. The hand tracking and the volume illumination of the particles with the laser creates a very impactful effect here. Allowing the visitor to explore what they are seeing in an effort to better understand, is such an important feature to make the art more accessible. #artandculture #laserlight #interactiveart #innovation

Discover the work of Meijburg Art Commission 2023 nominee IV: misha de ridder — The shortlist of nominees for the Meijburg Art Commission 2023 has been announced. In a series of articles, we highlight the work of the 5 nominees. The fourth nominee is misha de ridder, represented by Galerie Caroline O'Breen. He photographed the becoming of spring in the Stille Kern, a rewilded area in an artificial forest in the Flevopolder. Each spring, you can notice and feel the changes, but because you’re in the middle of it, you don't really actually see it. de ridder uses photography as an analytic tool to reveal the shift in colour and appearance; from yellow-brown reddish to bright fresh green. A wildly positive series of works as an ode to all this emerging power. A document of the resurrection of life; a unique document, as spring is different every year. Natural systems are self-organising and independent actors, representing a wide variety of new formal solutions far beyond the imagination of human beings. Each of them uniquely adapted to the requirements of its environment. Nature can produce an endless variety of forms that are both new and high performing, ever different, ever-changing. As Nescio remarks: always the same, always different. The artist is not seeking the Romantic, but is referencing to generative art: art that has been created with the use of autonomous systems, one that is non-human and can independently determine features of an artwork that would otherwise require decisions made directly by the artist, for example with code. It may be impossible for humans to ever replicate nature's mystical algorithm in a computer. It may not be necessary. It's already there. 'generative by nature' is an appeal to everyone who it concerns to step away from the screen and look at the world anew: embrace the positive beauty of reality!

Challenging but rewarding. One of my favorite pieces so far 🖼. The goal was to capture a high contrast scene that felt dynamic, deep and full of details in different planes. Finally overcame the almost fear of detailing human features in miniature scale. Trying a new pen and using new hatching and detailing techniques was tricky, but helped me refine the way I break down forms and structure volume. Lots more to learn, but ready for the journey ahead. If anyone knows of galleries looking for artists, hit me up. #architecturaldrawing #freeformdrawing #hatchimgdrawing #crosshatchingart #micronpenarchitecture #volumedrawing
