Amazon's upcoming AI chatbot, codenamed 'Metis', aims to revolutionize digital interactions. Similar to ChatGPT, Metis promises to provide conversational text responses, offer source links, suggest follow-up queries, and even generate images, enhancing user engagement. What sets Metis apart is its 'retrieval-augmented generation' capability, allowing it to access information beyond its training data. This innovation positions Amazon to lead in AI technology by bridging the gap between generative and retrieval-based systems, potentially redefining how users interact with digital assistants. As Amazon prepares to unveil Metis via web browsers, expectations are high for its impact on customer service and information dissemination. #artificialintelligence #amazon #ChatGPT

did apple just commoditise chatgpt/open ai, to be like any other content provider? for me, the biggest take-out from the apple WWDC, is that this is the start of a proper apple integrated ecosystem, not seen thus far - how apple intelligence can connect apps, which are currently isolated walled gardens of utility, to interact with each other to fulfil complex tasks. its more than just multiple apps working together. the response will depend upon whether the task can be fulfilled from on-device data in email, maps, calendar etc or it will need a wider knowledge base, in which case the task will be routed to chatgpt. also, if you are in one app and need responses from another app, the agents will interact to fulfil that task. so the new stack becomes device--> s/w-->os-->apps-->apple intelligence-->comms but the thing that confounds me is that hasnt apple just commoditised chatgpt/open ai, to be like any other utility/content provider. tasks are routed to chatgpt only when on-device data isnt wide enough - like a commoditised ingredient brand/product open ai gains from apple's distribution muscle but it loses it's distinctiveness, as having the ability to be that single point of connector to perform complex tasks. definitely, there's more to this than what i get, as sam altman is known as one of tech world's biggest deal makers? i am not sure how the legalities, operational processing and economics work in this, but it seems like only apple could have pulled this off. #applewwdc #appleintelligence #ai #openai #chatgpt

🤔 Can you tell the difference between the performance of Siri and ChatGPT? And have you been waiting to start talking to ChatGPT? Hang tight. 😎 Apple plans to upgrade #Siri with #generativeAI technology, The New York Times reports, citing unnamed sources. The upgrade is expected to make Siri “more conversational and versatile." 🤖 Apple plans to enhance Siri by adding features like text summarization and more interactive chatting. The upgrade is expected to improve Siri's task management, such as setting timers and creating reminders. The generative AI processing will occur on the device itself, rather than in the cloud, according to the Times. The effort arose after two Apple executives, after testing ChatGPT for weeks, concluded that Siri fell short in comparison. Apple is expected to reveal more about the AI developments at its WWDC conference in June. #ai #artificialintelligence #genai

✳️ In the coming weeks, we will see several significant announcements from major tech companies. It's worth noting that OpenAI, Google, and Apple have all had a complex relationship with the truth in the past. They often promise products set for release in an undefined future, present slightly enhanced images, and sometimes fail to follow through on projects previously described as groundbreaking. 💽 I wouldn't be surprised if we will witness a repeat of the events from nearly 25 years ago, when Microsoft provided substantial assistance to Apple, resulting in mutual benefits. The nature of this potential collaboration – whether it will involve licensing and joint development of small language models, special access to top-tier language models on Azure, or something else entirely – will be revealed at WWDC. 🔺 Small language models are expected to play a crucial role in the development strategy of Apple and other mobile device manufacturers. There are two main reasons for this: 1️⃣ Truly personalized AI interactions are only possible when the AI has access to a significant amount of information about its user. However, most individuals are cautious about the dissemination of their personal data. As a result, storing and processing this information directly on the user's mobile device is likely to become a necessary trend. 2️⃣ If algorithmic computations in the code that controls mobile devices can be replaced by rapid solution generation, it could lead to a considerable reduction in code size while potentially increasing efficiency and reliability. While this concept may seem more theoretical than practical at present, numerous startups are actively working to make it a reality. Picture by ChatGPT, text edited with Claude-3.

ChatGPT is a flawed company. That’s clear. Even so there is no question that AI efficiency is for real. You can see it in the subscription numbers. But ChatGPT is AI that is not private and does not seek to serve your best interests. It is not trustworthy AI. And even that kind of AI has benefits. Now imagine whether consumers, especially Apple’s base of more affluent consumers will pay for a Personal, Private Assistant that executes in your best interests to eliminate or reduce all the rote sequences of mundane tasks that make up the life of a human being. And conducts search that serves your best interests. While we think that at some point AI will do extraordinary things, we believe that the best AI will execute the fundamentals of everyday life extraordinarily well. Brilliantly. That’s why I am sticking with Apple despite all the turbulence. Simple is Powerful as a start. Execute that brilliantly. Then you can put spin on the ball.

So - there you have it. ChatGPT 4o is a hit already with most others scrambling for cover. Imagine making ~$1mn in revenue daily after Apple and Playstore hefty commissions. Big payout for the OpenAI team. Hyped or not - this is something unique with massive network effects. Such consumer apps or products usually take a few years to find a revenue model (WhatsApp, Facebook Instagram etc). Besides, this is 'consumer' only revenue, not enterprise B2B. 90% of Fortune 500 use their services and APIs. And 80% of revenue comes from Apple devices in consumer. Talk about premium users and operating in niches. And the U.S. was the top market, accounting for $1.8 million in revenue. Other top countries included Germany ($282,000), the U.K. ($212,000), Japan ($210,000), France ($147,000), Canada ($134,000), Korea ($123,000), Brazil ($117,000), Australia ($102,000) and Turkey ($89,000). India 🇮🇳 ??? Well, we are sleeping on AI and bad payers of services - anything on the internet should be free! - like people write long posts for 5 ₹ platform fees on Q commerce and FoodTechs - wanting to walk down instead 🤦🏼♂️

A few days ago, ChatGPT caught my attention again when I heard about Jony Ive teaming up with OpenAI on a major design project. Jony Ive, the man behind the iPod, iPhone, and iMac, gave Apple its biggest breakthroughs. With this notable collaboration, I had to get my hands dirty and research how ChatGPT makes money and its impacts on us. Headline: Is ChatGPT Raking in the Dough? Here's How it Makes Money (and Why it Might Still Be Broke) 💀 💀 Monetization Magic: 🔸 Subscription Service (ChatGPT Plus): VIP access for faster responses and early dibs on new features. 🔸 API Access: Businesses rent ChatGPT's skills for their apps and products. Think super-powered customer service! 🔸 Big Bucks Partnerships: Tech giants team up with ChatGPT for next-level AI assistants. Iron Man meets Jarvis, anyone? 🔸 Tech Sharing: ChatGPT lends its smarts to other companies, expanding its reach and income streams. 🔸 Research Grants: Investors fuel ChatGPT's development, keeping the AI engine running. The Debt Dilemma: 🔸 Brainpower Bills: Those powerful computers ain't cheap! Keeping ChatGPT running adds up fast. 🔸 Learning Curve Costs: Research and development are key to staying ahead, and that doesn't come free. 🔸 Mostly Free to Play: A large user base means less direct revenue. Imagine a theme park with limited gift shops! 🆓 🔸 The AI Rush: Staying competitive in the booming AI market requires constant improvement and marketing. It's a marathon, not a sprint! 🔸 Long-Term Plays: Investing in future projects like super-intelligent AI is exciting, but the financial payoff takes time. Patience is a virtue! ⌛️ 🔸 Capped Profits, Big Dreams: ChatGPT reinvests profits into research, great for the future of AI, but not so great for short-term profits. ♻️ Is AI a super-powered tool or a lazy button for students? The Good Stuff: 🔹 Personalized Learning: Your own AI tutor adjusts to your learning style, making it fun and effective! 🔹 Knowledge on Demand: Stuck on history? AI opens doors to a world of information, leaving no student behind. 🔹 Turbocharged Learning: AI-powered games make learning subjects like math and science an adventure! The Not-So-Good Stuff: 🔹 Thinking Machine or Thoughtless? Overreliance on AI can hinder critical thinking skills. We don't want mindless learners, right? 🔹 Fake News Alert! AI is only as good as its training data. Be sure to double-check those facts! ⚠️ 🔹 Social Distancing (Not Cool): Too much AI can make real-world connections suffer. Real friendships and teamwork matter too! #AI #OpenAI #Research #Design #Impact
