In a parallel universe, Tesla might have been a part of Apple’s empire, but this alternate reality hinges on a meeting between Elon Musk and Tim Cook that never took place. During Tesla’s most challenging period, Musk reached out to Apple about a potential acquisition, according to a 2020 tweet by Musk. It was the period of Tesla’s Model 3 production, a time fraught with financial strain and operational hurdles for the electric vehicle manufacturer. Musk sought to initiate a conversation with Cook about Apple acquiring Tesla. But according to Musk’s tweet, Cook declined the meeting. Months later, Cook provided his version of the events. According to IndiaTimes, Cook said, “You know, I’ve never spoken to Elon. And there are lots of companies out there that we could’ve bought from at different times, probably. But I feel really good about where we are today.” #tesla #elonmusk #timcook #apple

It’s wild to think about what might have happened if that meeting had taken place. Tesla under Apple’s wing could’ve been a game-changer. Elon Musk reaching out during Tesla’s tough times shows how even big companies need a hand sometimes. Tim Cook’s response about never speaking to Elon and feeling good about where Apple is now is pretty interesting. Just goes to show how different paths can lead to success in their own ways. As Musk once said, “When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.” And Cook’s focus on Apple’s independent journey highlights that same kind of resilience.

Solely viewed through financial glasses it is always good to create a bigger entity and bad if it does not happen. Having worked for one and providing technical services for the other, a construct like that would have not worked. Mostly for differences in company culture and strategic vision.

Imagine the power of Apple's design with Tesla's innovation. This meeting could've changed everything. Sometimes, the deals that don't happen are as important as those that do. This shows how timing is everything in business. A year earlier or later, and history might be different.

In politics and business alike, when leaders are not able to lead and make cognitive decisions, they need to step aside and let a younger generations take their turn. Apple is in that position now. Tim should join Joe.

Electric cars are where they are due to Tesla pushing the market. If Apple bought Tesla it could have been their Vision Pro of cars. A fancy product that is way overpriced for what the market will bear, therefore going nowhere and the electric car market stagnating because of it.

Interesting! Wasn't it the same thing that happened when Steve Jobs offered Apple to HP and was rejected?

Elon is destined for greatness, so the universe pushes him to make Tesla a great company. It’s going to be the largest public company by revenue and market cap by 2030.

The cultures at Apple and Tesla are very different and, I suspect, incompatible. I don't think Apple buying Tesla would have been a success.
