📈 Reflecting on the Historic May Day of 1975 🌟 Today marks a pivotal moment in the history of the U.S. stock markets. On May 1st, 1975, after 180 years of operating under a fixed price commission model, brokerages transitioned to a new era of varying commission rates driven by market competition. Before this groundbreaking change, investors faced fixed-rate commissions regardless of trade size, leading to significant profit erosion for small investors. Commissions could soar into the hundreds of dollars, making trading inaccessible for many. The shift to a competitive commission structure on this day empowered investors of all sizes. It introduced a fairer system where commissions were determined by market forces, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and dynamic investment landscape. May Day 1975 was a turning point that paved the way for greater accessibility and fairness in the stock market. It epitomizes the importance of adapting to market dynamics and embracing change for the benefit of all investors. Let's take a moment to recognize this historic milestone and its lasting impact on the financial world. How has this change influenced your perspective on investing? September can be one of the trickiest months for the #stockmarket. It can be one of the weakest months of the year for equities, which can make investors itching to sell. Not so fast, Eric Beyrich, co-Chief #Investment Officer at Sound Income Strategies, told Gregg Greenberg at InvestmentNews. “(September) being down 56 percent of the time is not game-changing for investors like us with multi-year horizons. For day traders, and fast money algorithms, this slim winning percentage can be enough to make hay, however,” said Beyrich.
